Suppose you had close to $1600, or even $1800 to blow on some new toys. ... just suppose. And you had 2 choices. One of them being a 1911, and the other choice being a revolver and lever gun. What would you chose?

The revolver and lever gun being these two

Or the 1911, which would be this....

I'd just like to hear how everyone would spend there money, and why. Your individual situation applies. Keep in mind, if you had the money, and you only had these two choices. One really nice carry 1911, or a nice HD revolver and woodsy lever gun.

I'd get the revolver and lever gun (but probably in .30-30).

Actually, I'd only get the lever gun since I already have two .357's and a couple of reliable 1911's.

wrong mix

I would get a 1911 and the 45/70, :D

8 shot revolver, that is like kissing your sister,
No matter how good it feels, it just doesn't look right.

I've been thinking about a Dan Wesson VBob, but I think I would have to go for the levergun/revolver combo. I'd probably opt for a revolver other than that M&P R8; its too bulky and just doesn't look right to me. I'd opt for something a little more traditional, maybe even a SA to accompany a nice levergun.

Vbob, as I have the other basis covered but no 1911-yet. But, I might opt for the Vbob's lighter brother, the Guardian--still a commander bob, but alloy frame with the same great "Duty" treatment the Vbob can have... heretofore only available in 9mm, but due out soon in .45--and save a little money for extra mags, ammo and such. But if it had to be spending all of your fantasy loot on the suggested items, the Vbob.

Given those two choices it would be a no brainer for me. I would take the revolver and the lever gun. I would never spend that kind of money on a 1911. Just my $.02 All three are very nice weapons.

None:

I've had a Marlin 45-70 since 1983 and mine has a much nicer looking lever ring.

I've had a S&W Model 57 .41 magnum since 1984, so I don't need the revolver.

I have a VBOB so, I don't need one of those either.

Well, MY choice would be the 1911 and the level action 45-70. But since we don't have that option here and I already have a fantastic 1911 (Kimber tactical entry), I'd go with the S&W plus 45-70.

Actually, I don't think there's a wrong answer here!

I would take money and my Dan Wesson and trade for a Ed Brown That my dealer will sell to me at a super great price. DW lost me when they did their big price jump . :barf:

The Marlin 45-70 six shot, and whatever else you said.

I'm a fan of 1911A1s, but not real big on that "signature-down-payment-on-a-house" custom gun schtick.

Marling in the 45-70 and the R8 definately because in any situation be it kodiak bear or bag of douche bad guy the rifle is gonna get the job done...but the long barrel 357mag makes a nice back up combo

If I had that much money to put down on new toys, I'd use it for a down payment on a new boat.

There are other things in this life than just guns. Guns I have. A new boat I need.

Lever gun and revolver even though I hate the pistol grip style stock on the Marlin. Prefer straight stocks on lever guns. I can't see anything special enough on that 1911 for the price.

HAH. The instant I saw this thread title I thought to myself "I would buy an R8".

I don't know what a Marlin 1895 SBL is and I really don't care. I just want the R8.
