If you don't know,it's not a dumb ?

I wonder what STI was thinking? Also STI might not be Ruger, Colt or S&W but even I've heard of the company so they are kind of big...I wonder why they would do something so odd.

It turns out the gun is a custom build on an STI 2011 frame. The barrel is made by Schuemann. The barrel looks something like this:

I believe the slide has to be custom machined to fit the barrel and then fitted to the frame. The sight is fixed to the barrel itself, not on the slide. It's a weird 45, but its super accurate and fun as heck to shoot. I think it's labeled ".450" because it is made short-chambered, which leaves it up to the custom shop to more precisely finish the chamber. I didn't have the gun made; bought it at an auction, so I'm saying this based on what I've been able to learn about the gun.

Thanks Skans! (Any pictures of the whole gun?)

Once again this place is great place to talk about guns.

There is one that is different. I was shooting my .45 Auto. I was cleaning up a bunch of mixed leftovers that I had over the years. I picked a handful out of the box and the one wouldn't easily load in the magazine. It was a good old .45 Auto Rim. Had not seen one in a long time and about forgot about them. So if you are buying ammo for your .45 ACP, don't buy any .45 Auto Rim by accident. Not too much chance of that though, since you don't see them much at the ammo store. Just though I would throw this in since it just recently happened to me. .45 Auto Rim designed to fit revolvers that shoot .45 ACP with half-moon clips so you can eliminate the half moon clips in Colt and Smith 1917 Military revolvers.
