kjm,

Point taken! I was just envisioning a self-preservation scenario in which the likelihood of survival would be greatly threatened by trying to defend ourselves with firepower. Delta is definitely tough, but they are not in the business of sacrificing a few of their own to accompany wanks like me to my final destination.

A friend of mine worked with them many years ago (was not IN Delta, but rather did some marginally related support work as a computer geek while in the military). He and I get to the range once or twice a month. He said these guys are on the range several hours every day. I might go through 200 rounds of pistol ammo and maybe half that in rifle ammo in a good month. They practice with thousands of rounds of ammo every week. While I'm driving to work I sometimes imagine what I'd do in this scenario or that. These guys *practice* every scenario imaginable day-in day-out, over and over, using live rounds in many cases.

So if I'm in a building or up in the hills with my super-kewl .25 MOA long range sniper rifle topped with two paychecks worth of optics and stuffed with carefully selected hand loaded ammo, and I hear that I'm surrounded by Delta (or SAS, or pick your favorite squaddies), my self-preservation scenario involves hurling the rifle over the nearest cliff and shouting UNCLE as loud as possible. At least now I've got a chance of survival.

From what I have now... AK-47, HK USP .45, Glock 27. :(

Ideally...

Short Range... Ak-47. Good, reliable CQC rifle that packs 30 mean punches per magazine.

Long Range... Most likely an M1A. If expecting long, long range shots, Rem 700 LTR in .308 or something .300 Win Mag.

Sidearm... As I think about it, I surprise my self... probably a 9mm. I would prefer a P7M8/M13, but would have to go with a Glock 17 for high round count and SHTF long term durability.

1) Bushmaster M4gery: dial 223 for local calls.
2) M700 LTR: dial 308 for long distance calls.
3) SIG P220: dial 45 for person to person.

My choices are:

1. Bushmaster AR (shorty)
2. M3 Benelli
3. Ruger 10/22

If I was to include a pistol it would most likely be my 92FS because of the hi-cap magazines but the above combo should suffice.

1. SA58 from DSA all Stainless steel with the medium contour barrel and the DSA scope mount. Add a Leupold 3.5-10X with the illuminated mil-dot scope in a set of lever lock rings. This setup could be used for big game hunting and as a counter-sniper rifle with the scope, and as a heavy battle rifle without it.

2. Bushmaster XM-15 with a 16" barrel, colapsable stock and an AGOG. Someone, I can't remember who, is making a .22 LR conversion that is a complete upper with the correct twist for .22 LR. This would be a good light battle rifle that would be easy to carry and the .22 would let you take small game.

3. Springfield Armory V-16 .45 Super with a second slide and barrel in a Commander length. Also a good .22 conversion unit. This should take care of the handgun needs from plinking and small game hunting with the .22 to SD with the Commander slide to deer and hog hunting with the Super.

4" mod 28 highway patrolman 357, ind. hard chromed
win. 94 357 cal., 16" barrel, Williams peep sight

The two 357s can be loaded from rabbit and squirrel to small deer and upright varmint levels.

M 1 Garrand, national match features

Ammo restriction?

If not, I'd take my AR15, complete with all ammo types. I'd have my CQB M193 stuff, my 2-400 yard M855 stuff and my 80 gr. single feeds for up to 800 yard work.

Second gun would be my Para-Ord P14.

Third? My RWS 48 air rifle for small game and harassment purposes. I can carry enough ammo for years with this thing and I think in the right situation, could dispatch bigger stuff too. 8" of penetration in animal tissue makes it quite lethal.

my choice from what I have on hand: M-14, rem 870 12 ga, and browning hi-power, that should keep me alive but not happy!!!!

I think an M1A in 308 for distance work..
A Bushmster M4 flattop for close work outside
Sig P-220 for clearing the house or defense indoors.

I'd have to stick with what I know:
1)Remington 700 30-06
2)Charles Daly semi-auto 12 gauge
3)Ruger MKII 5.5 Bull Barrel
I could go out and get H&Ks, Kimbers or Bushmasters, but I know the above guns very very well, and they shoot like an extension of myself.
PS And lots of ammo.
PPS And I'm bringing my bow and a few dozen arrows to boot.

1) Remington 700 .308 w/ mid power variable scope
2) Remington 870 12 gauge shotgun w/ short & long bbls
3) Glock 17 w/ standard cap mags*

*in lieu of the G17, i would be happy w/ a 4" .357 mag revolver...
