Really buy one?

Curiosity thread. Is there a rifle you wish a manufacturer would offer as a standard production item - I don't want to hear about custom rifles in this thread, please. Any design, any action type from single shot to magazine fed (any type magazine from tubular to blind-box).

What is your "I wish Brand-X built one like this ......." rifle? Why do you want it, and would you really buy one if they did?

Mine is a Remington 700 in 6.8 SPC. Has to have a Spec-II chamber, 1 in 10 twist, matte black 22 inch varmint contour barrel that is threaded to match the AR platform rifles of that caliber - obviously for mounting a suppression device. Installed in their "Short Action Police" synthetic stock with its' double front swivel set (sling and bi-pod). Blind three or four round standard Rem 700 cartridge capacity with a hinged floor-plate.

I think this would be a great suppressed "large varmint" rifle - hogs and coyotes - maybe deer from a stand.

Remington currently offers this in 223 and 308. And to answer my question, if they build it ---------- YES I would buy one.

So ........ what is your dream "production" rifle ?

I always wanted an "accurate Mini-14". Anything real close to minute of angle would work.

Yeah, I know the new ones are supposed to be better. I've seen and shot two and was not impressed.

Whatever floats your boat, but 6.8 SPC is really a solution for a problem that doesn't exist in a bolt gun, a ~2.4" OAL.

Without that limitation, there are better options.

If Ruger could build a 10/22 Magnum that worked well and didn't cost an arm and a leg I'd go for it.

They couldn't...so they sold the rights to Magnum Research and now They Do...but at $800.

Production of the 1022M was started & stopped 5 times over the years due to various issues that Ruger was unwilling to throw major money at to fix.
MR did, so they deserve the biz and the payoff for fixing what Ruger wouldn't...IMHO.

I'd love to see the Marlin model 37 return to being an OEM offering...good slide action rimfires are rare as heck these days...especially cowboy-style ;)
And I was NOT impressed with the Henry...plastic & shakey...felt like a toy compared to the old Marlin.

I'd like to see one or more of the manufacturers make some big bore light weight carbines chambered in 45 WinMag, 50 AE, or similar chamberings. Mini-14's, M1 Carbines, Camp carbines...any of these platforms would suffice.

How about Remington offering their 260 round in something other than a Model 7? I have a Model 7, and love it to death, but the 260 is a really neat cartridge, yet you can't buy a real rifle chambered in it.:confused:

My dad has a Henry 22lr lever (the non golden boy) and its a tack driver at 50-75 yards from bulk 22 ammo. I wouldn't use any of the words you use to describe it.

A small bolt action or lever action carbine chambered in 10mm auto, for 25-50 yard plinking and varmint control. i know there are better and more accurate cartridges for the job but i would still buy it.

Ruger Frontier rifle something like 6.8 SPC or 300BLK with a muzzle threaded at the factory...... I know you can put a longer, bigger cartridge in a bolt gun, emcon....... but I want a kiddoe short range deer rifle, with a can. Right now, I'm cobbling together my own, in 7-08.... lotsa unecessary case space there, and when loaded to max levels, too much blast and flash for little kids.....

This topic has been covered in many other threads, but I'll repeat my wish here...just in case some bigwig at a gun manufacturer is reading;)

U.S.-made Daewoo K2 clone.
+ Offered in 5.56NATO, 6.8 SPC and 6.5 Grendal
+ Full flat-top upper reciever with folding iron sights
+ 16" bbl with shortened gas system
+ Make as many parts possible to interchangeable with AR parts (FCG parts, Firing pin, flash hiders)

I you build it, they will cum:eek:

My Wish would be quite simple.
I would like a Ruger Hawkeye African rifle chambered in 30 06 springfield.
I like the looks of that Rifle, but the cartridges its chambered for are too powerfull for the game I hunt.

Yes I would Buy it !! they do make one version of that rifle in .223 as a training rifle, but I dont have any use for that cartridge.

Lever in .327 Fed Mag. Probably Rossi 92 to keep it affordable but still in a classic, strong and slim/handy format. And, Win 1892 design perhaps closest to having an action/chamber designed--or modifiable--to handle the pressure but still in a compact package. Challenge (beyond pressure)? Too small case for traditional loading gate?
Why wanted? Modern-day .32-20 or a "30 Carbine" lever-- which would be a great thing. especially in a 92. Lots of great uses for--great trail gun (in sub-bear country), varmints/pests, small to small-medium game, etc--and, of course, to compliment same-chambered revolvers out there (and hopefully to come). Ideal format? 20" 92 SRC but would also make for a cool--if hefty--traditional 24" octagonal rifle.

For kids I would look at the .260 Remington, AKA 6.5-08. Mild recoil, plenty accurate, lots of excellent bullets available for everything from varmints to moose to LR competition. It has about 600 FPS available over the 6.8 in every bullet weight (but can be loaded down if you want), with better sectional density and higher BC of the bullets across the board.

If you are using a can, I wouldn't think muzzle blast would be an issue at all.

The thing about kids is, they grow up. A full size cartridge can grow with them.
