IDPA. Choice of gun?

My carry gun is a SIG P220, but I also have a G20 for IDPA because it is my house gun. I find shooting both in competition enhances my shooting skills with all of my firearms.

If IDPA wasn't meant to be a game, why is there a scoring system?

If it doesn't matter if we win or lose, why do we keep score?

Dave T,
To be honest we do fairly well, our club does all kinds of non typical IDPA stuff also. There are very few revolver friendly scenarios. I don't even shoot revolver, but I see our few revolver shooters struggling. We shoot with more movement and often at greater distances. There is some attempt at following the rules, but many of our members are old IPSC shooters. I'm in a position now to where I can hopefully have the necessary influence to help reduce our deviation from what IDPA was intended to be.

IDPA guns-carry guns?

I have to laugh when I see some of these people with their IDPA setups. There is no way that that is what they carry all year long.
I compete with a Ruger KP95D anfd I carry a KP95DAO. Last year at the Nationals I used my KP95DAO and placed third. My son, with his KP95D placed first. I figured out that perhaps the long stroke was taking me longer (DUH). So last Christmas I bought a KP95D to compete with. My son and I shoot about the same now (really he is a little faster; but, he is also 50 pounds lighter and 23 years younger).
That is my "concession" to the "game". I do use the same IWB holster I carry with. Those strapon belt holsters hide pretty well under those t-shirts during the summer months for all those other people, RIGHT.
But it is a game and as long as there isn't outright cheating I don't get worked up about it.
