Identify a Savage 110

I have a Model 110 in 30-06, S/N F69639X that I picked up well used. No removable magazine, bolt removal lever is on top next to bolt handle, screws are 5" c-c with a tape.
What generation or suffix letter would this be? I need to order a few parts and apparently there are some changes along the way.
Also if someone can share how to remove the tin magazine enclosure with destroying it that would be great.
 
A Savage 110 is a long action and all Savage long actions are the same length. Here is a good reference if you still need it. What parts are you needing? As long as you order parts for a long action you should be golden. If you're looking for scope bases then all that really matters is does it have a round or flat rear receiver ring.

You have a 1st generation 110. "Long-action, blind magazine, staggered feed, side bolt release", as I've heard it put commonly. The action screws are 5.06" apart.

I have the same rifle, except in .308, with a 26" bull barrel ("tactical" version).
 
There have been at least 3 different generations of Savage rifles. I don't know all of the details, but at least with aftermarket stocks it matters.
 
Has the flat rear base, round front base.
I need to order a barrel wrench and a barrel. Both of which depend on the generation or at least A,B,C according to the sources for wrenches.I guess the splines on the nut differ.
 
A 30-06 Savage 110 will invariably be LONG action. The long actions were the FIRST generation of 110's. There are several generations of SHORT action 110's. However, if the action screw spacing is 5.06".....then the action is LONG. No possible mistake in that. The later short action 110's ALL have screw spacing SHORTER than 5.06".

As to the pertinent letter code for the 110 in question, I can't help you with that. Savage has always added bizarre and convoluted letter codes to their rifle model #'s. Having only had my 110 for a short time, I don't yet understand the letter codes myself.

There have been three generations of short actions all of which have different screw spacing. The long action screw spacing has remained unchanged since the 110 was first produced. So any long action aftermarket stock will have the correct screw spacing,

As mentioned the Wheeler barrel nut wrench should handle any grooved barrel nut Savage made. The new smooth nut is the only one my Wheeler wrench won't handle. A regular bench vise or barrel vise is also handy for removing the barrel, sometimes those barrel nuts are on stupid tight.

Nope, Take a look at the Wheeler wrench set I linked to above, It works with the smooth nut.
 
I ordered the wrench from midway today. Hate ordering from there. They always have plenty of other stuff I need. Lol.
$25 wrench ended up being almost $200.

I never said the one you referenced wouldn't handle a smooth nut, I said mine wouldn't. I got my barrel nut wrench years before the smooth nut came out. However, I haven't found a grooved barrel nut my Wheeler wrench doesn't fit.
 
Boogieman, It should be a 2nd generation Savage. It should have a 3 screw trigger, and they can be tuned very well.
To remove the mag box, I use a short piece of 1x2 lumber, and a dead blow hammer.Wrap the barrel with a towel or piece of leather then clamp it into a vise. Then place the 1x2 on the front of the mag box against the action. Strike the 1x2 with the dead blow hammer, the mag box should just pop out.
