As soon as the emissions from your furnace or the sound from your firing do not leave your property, I'll agree that they have no place regulating them. Until then, you need to admit that your activities have negative externalities and that those affected by those externalities may not appreciate that.

Horse pucky sir. These busybody city dwellers move out to "the country" to get away from the congestion and regulation of city life. THen the first thing they do is try to recreate it.

When people in an area have always shot outdoors and always used wood stoves then you have no grounds to complain because YOU just moved there.

We have morons building houses on Long Island on old farm property abutting current farm property. These idiots actuall complain to the farmers about the noise from their equipment in the morning and the dust they kick up. HEY IDIOTS you moved next to a farm!!!! There solution though is to become busybodies in town politics and bring about the same intrusive regulations and controls that they supposedly were leaving behind.

+1 for the kids. I guess there are still some good places left.

None of this, of course, relates to the OP...there are no negative externalities involved in a couple kids safely carrying firearms with them.

Simple solution, do your homework and don't move where you don't like the current laws or current way of doing things. It's pretty simple, if it's legal for me to heat my home with wood and shoot in my backyard, you move in next door and don't like it. I didn't invite you to move here, you chose to move here and neglected to find out if there was anything you didn't like about your new found home before you bought it. Tough...you get the idea

There's an old axiom in Real Estate. "Don't pay for a view unless you own all the land between you and it." Same thing goes for isolation. If you don't want to be bothered by neighbors, buy all the surrounding land.
