I want a scandium S&W

Ooouch!

love the gun that i got (340PD) and got the chance today to shoot 357's out of it....HOLY S***! wasnt what i expected. definatly not for amature's
(like myself).

Love my 340PD; perfect carry gun after I installed a set of crimson trace lasergrips. Recoil with full house .357 mag loads are still rough but I can go through a whole cylinder now before having to put the gun down. I used to put it down after every shot!

Grip "?"

If you dont mind my asking, How much was your laser grips? & did they really help alot with the hit in your hand?
I think it may have been you that said, in another quote, that it feels like catching a baseball bare handed...well it more like a fastball without a catchers mit. I do love the gun though.

I've had a 340SC for two years. It kicks like a mule. Somebody said that "shooting the Sc/Ti's is like shaking hands with ethe devil". I agree but it carries very well and is half the weight of the gun it replaced, a Smith 649.

I use Crimson Trace rubber grips which help with the recoil but it is not a plinker.
It is my "always" gun but I don't shoot it just for fun,

John

"I want a Scandium S&W"

My question for you is why would anyone want one. Now that I've got that out of the way, I own a Smith 340PD and it makes a great carry gun. I DON'T like to shoot it (but I HAVE to practice with it). I have to give Smith & Wesson some credit, they might have designed the perfect CC revolver. Its very light, accurate, and reliable. I've thought about trading it in on several other guns, but every time its I get another gun I just can't force my self to trade it in.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, I don't like my Smith 340PD but I still have it and I still carry it.

I bought a 340PD yesterday and tried it out on the range today. I've been wanting one for quite some time. I love the light weight and rustfree contruction. I have the Hi-Viz sight and I think it is an improvement over the standard blade front sight.

Seems quite accurate with .38 +P ammunition, but using .357 Magnum is indeed a challenge. I had a hard time keeping it in the black with the .357 and you can feel your hand after firing a few cylinders worth. Seems like it could become my main carry gun. My only complaint is I wish it came in Bodyguard style. I had no bullet pull problems with Federal Hyra-Shock or Remining Golden Sabre ammo. I seemed to shoot better with the Remington, not sure why.

A great gun all-in-all. Can't be beat for power, weight, reliability, and concealability.

340pd nice gun

I agree with toos, great gun for ccw :) . I found out that you could do two rapid shots, if you fire .38 special +p follow by .357mag. I get 1" groups of two @ 7 yards. If you practice multiple bg you would have plenty of time to regrip the pistol for the next sets of shots. True is a mule on the .357 but is nice to know that you have that kind of power in such small, light, accurate and reliable revolver. Happy shooting!
