I want a .22Lr Marlin...

~20+ years old = good rifles.

~20 years old, or less = hunks of camel excrement.

No Marlin Model 60 that has gone through my family, in the last 20 years, has lived to tell the tale. They were absolute pieces of crap.

I love Marlin bolt guns, but the Model 60 is a totally different beast (a worthless one, at that).

I am changing my mind on the Marlin -- the trigger is the worst I've ever pulled out of a box. What a piece of cheap junk they've cut corners to create. Disassembled and cleaned and lubed it is just as bad. I didn't send in for the rebate as I may yet return it. RETURN a $114 rifle! Can you imagine!?

I'd stick with an older, used one. My opinion of Marlin down the tubes since Remington took them over. I bought a new anniversary version of the Model 60 and it was a quality assurance nightmare. I bought it from an online dealer and it came with a stripped butt stock screw, an action screw that wasn't long enough, sling stud not even attached to rifle, and a stock that was damaged by the parts moving loose in the box (action screw/sling stud). Remington's response? Send it back on MY dime so they can decided whether or not they want to fix it. Not cool and never got a resolution with them.

Couple that with numerous complaints I've read online and my own personal inspections of at least 3 new Marlins (3 out of 3...meaning ALL had multiple flaws, various models) and I will never buy another Marlin/Remington without first having a hands on inspection of it's quality.

That's my opinion of NEW Marlins. I have bought several older ones without any issues though :D
