I think I want a new .22

Buckmark. The only problem I have with mine is that they don't make a high capacity mag.

Otherwise, it's a great gun.

Well, to update, I went to the gun shop tonight and I liked a used Ruger MK II, a new Buckmark Camper, and a new Ruger Single Six. All were within a hundred dollars of each other in price. I couldn't make a decision and actually walked out having spent no money yet.:(

I'll just have to go back again soon.

I just got a ruger 22/45 and I love it. Accurate as hell and fun to shoot, put about 2500 rounds of the cheap CCI blazer bulk ammo and not one jam of any kind. Dont listen to all the talk of it being hard to strip, I think half those posts are from people who have never actually broken down a MKIII. Just check out a youtube video while you do it and its really not that hard its just more of a pain.

Of your choices (Buckmark, Single Six), I would get the Buckmark.

I have 2 Buckmark Bullseyes (7 inch fluted barrel, adj sear, trigger stop ). Good out-of-box. Only adjustment I made was sighting in.

Also, look at Ruger MK series pistols, also. Both my Ruger MKIIs (5.5 bull and 7 flat side barrel) required trigger work. New trigger, sear, grips.
Both Ruger and Buckmark are accurate and reliable with Federal 550 bulk ammo. Both shoot better with better ammo (Fed #510, #714, Automatch, etc).

- had a .22 conversion for a 1911. Sold.
- had mouse .22. Sold.
- had a S&W 617 4 inch. Had timing issues. S&W fixed it free twice. Sold.
- have S&W 41 - beautiful, accurate but SV ammo is not cheap so I seldom shoot it. ammo sensitive.

In all, If .22LR , then Buckmark or Ruger MKXXX 5.5 barrel or longer are the best buys.

I own the CZ-75B Kadet,,,
That pistol absolutely rocks out.

A buckmark would be my choice for a plinker. I have two ruger mark IIs and two buckmarks, along with several other .22 handguns ( berettas, HS, Smith ). The buckmarks are always my favorite range pistols.

If you don't mind the cost, the SW 617 is an outstanding .22 lr revolver. I've also got the SW 63 which is less $$ and a great plinker and the Ruger Mk III which I really like for a semi.

But if you are thinking of a DA revolver,,,

The S&W Model 18 Combat Masterpiece is one sweet wheelgun,,,
It's the companion piece to the Model 15 in .38 Special,,,
I got mine (top gun) for $375 used but not abused.

Very accurate handgun,,,
My favorite .22

Have a Smith Model 41, came with 5" barrel and I bought a 7" that I put a scope on. Just as good as everybody says and ver versatile with the two barrels. I know they are $$ but take decent care of it and your grandkids will be shooting it.
