I just bought my new 686 about a week ago. It's the 4" + model. I just fell in love with it right when I saw it. I have to say when I felt it, it was perfect. I pick it up on Tuesday. I don't even have it yet. I hit the show this past weekend and stocked up on a load of 38 rounds to practice with. I am looking forward to it.
So now I am thinking of getting another one already. Is this normal? Once my 30 days has gone by I'm gonna pick up a 617 10 .22 4" as well. This could become an addiction.
Well those are both fine guns and as I am sure you know, they are very similar, almost twins, so the 617 makes a great, low cost, realistic training tool for the 686P (as well as an all-around fun gun ). I have exactly the same pair, 4-inch 617 and 686P and love them both - great choice!
