Probably already mentioned, but Ed Brown Special Forces Carry (commander bobtailed)--which is similar to the Kobra Carry except for the latter's "snake skin" front (and back?) strap treatment. That and the SF's regular 5" stablemate IMO are the nicest factory 1911s out there.

If you don't have that (EB) jingle, then one of its best impersonators, the Dan Wesson CBOB. These are not necessarily un-pricey either, and getting harder to find as they've either ceased or limited production as DW focuses on the new(ish) Valor line. Speaking of which--though starting to get close to EB $ territory--the Valor and Valor Bob, priced between the CBOB (when found) and the Ed Browns. These DWs have a pretty good smattering of EB parts in them.

Since you like the movie/tv guns, how about a Walther P-38? Initially famous from WWII usage, it was brought back into view with the Man From UNCLE.

S&W 65LS "Lady Smith" - I forget the suffix number(s) these came with. Don't let the light scripted moniker on the frame fool you, this is the nicest, "most complete package" K frame made IM0. One of the best kept secrets out there. Unique (among Ks) combo of specs: Vaunted 3", fixed sight, full shroud/lug (!), satin stainless. Pre Lock (at least most of them; I think I saw one post lock). Hammer mounted firing pin--again most I've seen, though near the end they had some transfer bar'd ones--which is fine too. If the script really bothers you, folks have taken it off, but I wouldn't bother. After ten seconds of be-holding and shooting one of these, you'll forget all about it and not care. But that's just me. Like all K .357s, not intended for a regular diet of 125 grainers (.357). The only "drawback" if that is one to you. It isn't to me as there are plenty of decent 158ish SD loads out there, not to mention +P .38s, which I have loaded in mine most of the time anyway.

New Gun Suggestion

How bout the Colt AR-15 that the LAPD SWAT uses. It was especially converted for them to a .308 Win. It has a different name but not sure what it is. Nice weapon. I saw on the "Deadliest Warrior" show on Spike TV.

New Gun Suggestion 2

Or even better....the new S & W .460 S&W Mag Perfromance Center with a scope. Great revolver and versatile. Great lookin and also shoots a .454 Casull and a .45 Long Colt. Makes Dirty Harry look like Mickey Mouse beggin for mercy. That thing is louder than .30-06 bolt action rifle.

The AR based gun the other poster is talking about is not made by Colt nor chambered in .308

It is chambered in 6.8spc and is classified as a SBR.

However, you can buy an AR in 6.8spc or .308 made by a variety of people including Colt (if you're into overpaying for things) in a variety of barrel lengths.

List your collection, so we aren't wasting our time with things you already own.

Since you're into Hollywood stuff buy a python.

Another vote for the PMR 30 by Kel-tec, supposed to be out this month! I gained a lot respect for 22wmr round when I bought a Davis derringer $50 some twenty years ago. Was baby sitting and just had to try it once, my daughter lived in a duplex and the other side was vacant. The backyard was fenced in and behind the fence was woods.I taped a makeshift target on one of the cedar fenceboards, paced off 10 yd.s and took one shot, damn they are loud.Anyway hit dead center and then hightailed back inside, figuring I had woken up the dead....Next day I went behind the fence to make sure I hadn't killed a possum or coon by accident.I found the fenceposts were galvanized pipe anf my one shot had pierced the fenceboard and went completely through the fencepost leaving a nasty jagged 1/2" hole .

some great ideas. i did just buy 6 new guns this week. lol but i am really starting to want more 1911s. i like the dan wesson classic.

I'm sorry, but you've touched on a subject that I'm absolutely in love with.

Kimber 1911's are used by LAPD SWAT. You can also see them in the movie SWAT. Can't go wrong there. I like their Pro Carry II LG.

Other Movie Guns:
Indiana Jones Carries a Top-break Webley WG Army Model chambered in .455 Webley.

James Darrel Edwards III "Agent J" carries a Smith and Wesson Model 3913 "Lady-Smith" in Men In Black. One of my favorites.

If you're looking for something a little different, you could try a COP Derringer 4-shot in .357 Magnum from movies like Bad Boys and The Matrix: Reloaded.

You can see the Sig-Sauer P232 in .380/9mm in several movies: Bad Boys (1-2), MIB, Enough, Get Smart, etc...

The Terminator uses an AMT Hardballer Longslide (7") in .45ACP in The Terminator.

Some Movie trivia from Chuck Taylor; the same highly customized Walther P-5 Compact was used by Clair Danes and Willem Dafoe in Romeo & Juliet (Juliet) and The Boondock Saints (Agent Smecker). Another is also used by Clive Owen in The Bourne Identity.

The Beretta 950 Jetfire in .25auto is another staple that I've seen cameoed in many films. The Spirit (Eva Mendez), Lethal Weapon (Gary Busey), Austin Powers: Goldmember (Beynce Knowles), etc...

The Walther PPK or PPK/S is a weapon not only seen in Bond movies, but movies like The Taking of Pelham 123 (Denzel Washington), The Departed (Leonardo DiCaprio), Austin Powers (Mike Meyers), Bad Boys (Tea Leoni), Payback (Lucy Liu), Shoot 'Em Up (Clive Owen), and many many others.

Also if you're looking for "Just another Toy" you could look around and see if you could get ahold of a cornershot to play with.

Sorry if this was a bit long, but I like to have fun with this particular subject...
