I met a Glock shooter today.....

Today, I met a Glock shooter, named Joe, at the gun range. He was in his late fifties, early sixties. He was wearing jeans, glasses and a work shirt. Just a good old boy, I guess you'd say. We shot some, talked some and then went on our separate ways. Nice guy.

He was shooting a .40S&W Glock, for which he reloads. He shot pretty well, it was his first time trying to use an NRA-D1 target and the lack of a defined aiming point caused him some troubles.

He was decidely unninja-like and I forgot to ask him if he ever hunts

I once asked an instructor why he used a Glock 19. I said that the 40 S&W was a little more potent. His response was that a perp would see little difference when hit with a double tap 9mm versus my 40 S&W M23 Glock.

Glocks really aren't bad guns. They function very well and are easy to take apart if you need to.

Don't judge a book by it's cover.

you guys have this all wrong

The dude was already in Camouflage.

This is a coffee shop correct? So, whom would suspect this well-dressed dude donut diner was packing a heater, I mean Glock? That's right. No one. The well-dressed was his camouflage.

It's Sunday morning, oh-8- hundred, billybobs gut buster donut wheel waiting line. Who is packing heat? The dude in the Packers jersey or the guy in a, Run and You Will Only Die Tired, camo shirt? Well, gee...I don't know...

Flip side:
Come here to Ohio and I can show you a few 'real nice people' (older and younger) that often wear camo and tapout shirts that carry 1911's. Some hunt, some don't.

If your info is correct, you live in SE Ohio? Hell, I grew up down there, and I'm pretty sure there have been brides from down that way wearing camo wedding gowns! Totally unarmed, and didn't hunt. But they knew how to clean and cook game animals.

I haven't had a niece show up yet for her wedding in camo, but I'm sure it's gonna happen eventually. Likely arriving for the service on a muddy ATV.

But the only folks down that way I see carrying Glocks are the cops. My kin are more the 1911 crowd. No Tapout shirts yet. Some Underarmor though, and they never played sports.

Nothing wrong with Glocks.

Another question: what's worse, a guy in TapOut gear or someone walking around in head to toe 5.11 tactical gear (with American flag hat)?

Just yesterday I met a nice older fellow dressed in slacks, shirt and a tie. He was carrying a Glock as well. He was also carrying an FBI badge.

Where abouts ?

Been to a few of those. A couple even held in barns (Hint: you can clean a livestock barn all you want and you'll never get the livestock smell out of it ;))...
...And to be honest, between the stuffed suit / tie events and the camo attired ones, I'd rather go to the camo events. Good people , great food and a good time is mandatory..of course, wearing a new set of camo's and your best BBQ gun was must. :D

I grew up out between Watertown and Waterford, in Washington County.

The more unusual wedding I attended was our nephew's, it was held out at Rinard Mills covered bridge, out North of Marietta. We then retired back to their house for a chili cookout, cooked in an old iron kettle over a bonfire. In the middle of the summertime. Perhaps they hadn't thought out the cuisine appropriate for the weather?

I know what you mean, I've enjoyed the parties held out in the country much more than any fancy deal where you had to dress up.

Out near where I grew up, they had 2 different party places. One, a 40' diameter silo, that we always called the "Hacker Club." If you couldn't "hack it", don't come! There was also Heiss's Holler, it was well equipped. They bought up an old walk-in cooler, and had the beer tap installed on the outside of it. They also had a couple of deep friers set up for fish fry's, a full gas flat-top grill, all under cover. They even had enough room under roof for a pretty decent sized dance floor, for square dances.

:D Reminds me of the day my shirt rode a little high in a resturant. My wife said a lady had crossed the room to LEO's eating at another table was talking to them and pointing at me. (Being half deaf, I couldn't hear what was going on.)

Wife said she's telling them I'm armed, then, that both had turned around and were looking hard. After a brief consultaion with each other, one saaid I appeared to be carrying a S&W and told her "No need to worry Ma'am, that's a good gun to carry." Wife had a hard time not laughing as the lady went back to her table.:)

Cool story Bob. I know in real life you're the Force Recon Sniper that Marky Mark's character in Shooter was based on, and all the people who know what they're doing carry the pistol you carry.

I got one bad 2X4. Glock 20 SF (10mmX16) with the long slide and compensator, and, and, and waiting for the rest of the goodies to come in the mail today. Pics coming soon.

Tacticool is the objective.

It's my show off gun for the range. "look at me and my junked up Glock":D

It will go well with my junked up S&W R8 M&P .357 8 shot revolver. They both come in any color you'd like as long as it's black.

Hey now...easy there Bob, I'm a (relatively) old fat guy, and I have both... ;)

Of course the opposite version of this thread could be "I met a 1911 shooter today who wasn't an old fat guy."

I know your being sarcastic Silent Bob but...

...that version would have been just as narrow minded as the original.

With the overtone of the way this thread started out, it's surprising it has stayed open.
Other then the OP admitting he met a Glock owner that didn't fit the narrow description of what he thought all Glock owners are, just can't see where this thread can possibly be of any positive benefit.

Of course I did get to have a nice pm'd conversation with stickhauler.
