I love my guns.. so which ones to keep?

Back when I was just starting my own business, I had a baby daughter, with another one on the way, a hefty mortgage on our first house, and roughly half the income we had when my wife was working. I sold most of my guns, guitars and motorcycles, then spent the next 20 years replacing them at considerably higher cost.

Keep the 19 and 1911.....Those are both great pistols. Everyone needs SD and fun guns alike.

Finding a nice revolver later is easy, in fact you'll probably want to acquire a P220, CZ 75, MK III, LCP and several others before getting the revolver.

I would keep both and buy a revolver when finances allow. Regardless of which one you might sell, you will regret it later and wish you hadn't done it. Also, by the time finances allow, you might run across another revolver you would prefer.

Rule #1 of guns...
Never sell a gun you like. Money will come and go but selling guns you like has a lifetime of regret and possibly even more costs trying to buy it back.

Agree, sell nothing you like. I've sold only 2 guns, but found I didn't really like them after owning them for a year or so. Hindsight. OTOH, I've never sold a gun I liked, and likely won't, leastwise until I'm ready for the hereafter.

Catalyst: I would so much rather have something to look forward to getting than feel the sting of missing what I had.
Catalyst, If I could tell you how many times that statement has been true for me you wouldn’t believe it.
HK P7, HK 91 and 93, S&W 5 inch 27 and I could go on. Javi Listen to Catalyst’s words.

I don't know your financial hardship at the moment, but is "Selling" to a friend til you get back on feet not an option? like "hey man, I am really in a tight spot.....can I borrow 3-400$ bucks for a couple months and heres a 600$ gun for collateral"....

whatever you do, DO NOT SELL TO A LGS and of course DO NOT PAWN(unless your are 1000000% positive you can pick up in the first month)

not sure where you live, but I would gladly make that deal with anybody as long as what I am loaning them I could make up in the gun. I am a litte older now and no longer run into brick walls when it comes to money, but I have been there. don't sell anything unless you have to and try to just borrow with collateral, you'll be glad you did.

my best friend was left multiple dozens of firearms when his grandfather died. I am talking rem 700's(several), 1911's(several), high end shotguns and even a couple old m14s. he sold every single one in "i need $$ FAST" situations. he sold several Remington 308's at less than 150$ a pop at "garage sales". he is 30 y/o now and kicks himself every sngle day. dont sell. I am still regretting selling my old SKS's and they are just that....SKS's

there is a few cheapo pistols that I don't regret, but other than three pistols I regret every single sale

if your close to ATL give me a holler and I woul gladly make you a deal with a buy-back option. do whatever it takes not sell. i'll never stop regretting selling my first rifle

James Pond....over here across the pond we are mostly not constrained by a govenment saying that you can only have x many guns. The OP is moving and will be getting a new job and place to live. After you have lived and worked at your new place for a year......then you can reward yourself with the S&W. It will give you something to look forward to......

I realise that, but I raised the comparison to show that I know the feeling of having to choose. Granted in my case it is legislature as well as cash flow!!

I much prefer the Smith and Wesson

That said; trading away one loved gun to acquire another seems foolish. Be patient and reward yourself with that Smith when you are in a better place.

Keep, and buy

Keep the guns you have and buy the revolver from your savings. Eat beans for a little while. Sell your grandma's afghan. And some other stuff that is bulky to move. Get a great job where you land. Good luck!

Keep em.
I have bought and sold many firearms over the years, selling to afford a new purchase.
I have had a Python,Colt Gold Cup,Browning BDL .22 leaver action and others that I wish I had kept.
You have two great handguns. Keep what you have and save for the 686 and don't be afraid to scratch the Springfield. It's a tool, use it.
Just my $0.02.
