I lost interest in black guns...

I have never really developed a love for black guns myself. I am 57 years old and grew up when guns were blue steel and wood. I bought a FNS-40 because some of my friends kept telling me how great their Glocks were (I tried their guns) but I couldn't bring myself to buy a Glock. I bought a DPMS AR15 because my friends kept telling me how wonderful AR15s are. I took both to the range yesterday, not for the first time, and came away thinking maybe I should have spent my money on a lever rifle, maybe a 45-70, and a revolver or a Beretta 92. I will not knock anybody's choice of gun, except my friends' Glocks lol, but I just don't think those types of guns are really for me. There are enough other guns out there to satisfy my tastes. Enjoy shooting guns you really like.

Oh yes, my friends have pretty much quit telling me about how great their guns are now. Don't know how long I will keep the FNS and the AR, but I don't really want to give up on them just yet.

Years ago I was all about semi-auto pistols and AR-15 rifles and sneered at revolvers. Obsolete was my attitude. Then I started getting obsolete. Now I collect revolvers. I am down to four semi-auto pistols and the AR-15 rifles were sold many years ago. No regrets. Change keeps things interesting.

I bought a good AR a few years ago but it never really did trip a switch for me. I get a lot more enjoyment out of my PCC CX4 and bolt action CZ.

You lost interest in "black" guns because they have no character, no nostalgia. No history. Tacticool usually hooks the younger people and city slicks. But I would take a nice 1911 over any HK or Glock. I would take a Thompson or ppsh 41 over any modern subgun. I would take a winchester model twelve or 1897 over any modern pump shotgun. Maybe I just like old stuff.
