I like glocks

There I said it, carried a. 45 colt for 100 years. Switched to a glock and my hip has been thanking me ever since. The newfangled plastic guns were not my cup of coffee for a long time. Now I am hooked. I owned a glock for some time but always carried my colt, I am hooked

I just picked one up after thinking there was something wrong with them for many years. I absolutely love mine. Elegant utilitarian design. And I shoot it well relative to some other guns. Still not a 1911 but the light weight and ease of field strip with nice trigger gets my thumbs up.

I absolutely love mine.

Obviously there are a lot of reasons so many people love GLOCKs. I’ve owned a couple and agree they are reliable, accurate and easy to carry, but don’t necessarily generate the emotional attachment some other guns do. To me GLOCKs are sort of the Toyota Camry of firearms.

Finely I bought one too. G19 9mm. We are friends now, after about 3 weeks.......
And I'm going to buy another, as soon as they make it with a CZ grip.:D

My Berettas are still my passion, but I own a pair of Glocks now as well after a positive year with my Walther PPS and I have nothing negative to say. My 19 Gen 4 is probably the most balanced, versatile pistol I have.

100 years is a long time. :D

I have wanted a Glock since I have been into guns, I have always just placed other gun purchases first.

I'm thinking my next purchase will be a model 19 and I can finally get on the bandwagon.

no time to shoot them

I made that mistake, I worked 12 or 16 hours a day for years and years without any days off.
Finley I got smart(er), and sad, I don't have time to work, because I have to go fishing/hunting/swimming, or scratch my back......;)

God willing I'll catch on someday. :)

I really don't want to like them, but I do. I have Berettas, Walthers, a FN High Power, S&W semiautos, a 1911, and a CZ. I like the classics most, but dang it, Glocks just work. So I've accumulated a G26 & a G17, and I begrudgingly like them too.

Hey overkill, 100 years is long but us geezers are slow to change, heck I probably won't change my underwear :) still carry a hamilton pocket watch cause I refuse to get a newfangled battery watch. Love the glock though Lol

Oh my!

My goodness, If I was able to live to be over a 100 years old, I wouldn't want to carry, just let the person put me out of my misery.....;)

Glock's are an excellent choice. I don't own one (shot plenty of them), but if I had to choose only one manufacture, it would Glock, but not for their looks. LOL

That's what it comes down to---Glock's just work

Own other guns, but nothing does it as easily as a Glock does---they are also more accurate than most give them credit for.

Another Glock was going to be my next purchase, but given the current climate, another AR will probably be next.

I always enjoy these "used to hate Glocks" threads. They reassure me that I'm not alone. ;)

OP, like you, plastic guns "weren't my cup of coffee," either. Heck, I wouldn't even own one until a couple of years ago. Then I bought a Gen4 G19, and things just went downhill from there. She kept sneaking into my holster early in the morning. Even on days when I was just positive that I wanted to carry full-sized steel, she'd just cozy on up to me. Next thing I knew, I was carrying her about 90% of the time.

Maybe the plastic fantastics are soulless and ugly, but they're here to stay, and they've got a place, methinks.

I, too, only had 1911s until deciding what I really needed was a high cap 9mm.
Got a Glock 17, as my only auto loader pistol for over 5 years.
It got a lot of use, for sure, without complaint.
Very reliable, but...
As accurate as the 1911 that eventually replaced it?
Nope.
As easy to get parts when necessary?
Nope?
Did the .45 1911 recoil more?
Nope.
Did my scores at the matches suffer when going back to the 8 round 1911?
Nope, actually improved in spite of needing more mag reloads.
Did I need suspenders to hold up my pants with the 1911 and all the mags?
Yep.
Would I ever change the 1911 for a Glock again?
Nope.

Guess I'm an antiGlock. Had a P22 for a couple years. A decent gun, but the grip angle was such that it really beat my hand up. Never did enjoy shooting it. So, swapped it off for a Sig and never looked back. Can't really badmouth Glocks, they just ain't for me.

They will say what they want, but they can't say that "my" 17 and 21 don't serve their intended purpose very well, these are basically range use guns, but I have carried the 17 and I wouldn't have a problem carrying the 21!

It seems that a lot of folks have similar feelings to mine. I have other pistols that are better looking, more refined, more comfortable, and more accurate. But the Glock 26 goes inside my belt every morning because it is light, easy to conceal, reliable, with a simple and consistent manual of arms, and is actually quite accurate in its own right. I also consider ugly an asset in a carry pistol, in that I don't have to worry about dings and holster wear. I don't have the affection or the feeling of pride of ownership that I do some of my others, but it does its job admirably.

Welcome to the dark side. I like Glocks also. They are one of my favorite, if not the favorite handgun.

Well...they do work, they are accurate for so simple a design, and they're cheap and light enough to carry every day even in duty size models. It took me a day to get used to the rubber band feel of the trigger out at Front Sight's 4-day Defensive Handgun Course, several years ago. After that first day, I shot it well, winning the class championship steel match on the last day. Believe me, it was a surprise..

Guess my only complaint is the rifling that's not compatible with cast lead alloy bullets...oh, and the plastic sights.

We've had two, a G19, which we sold to a non-gun lover friend who needed a bedside gun; and currently a .40 G23. Both were and are 100% reliable with both factory and handloaded ammunition. But they just don't engender the pride of ownership that a good lookin' 'blued steel and walnut' 1911 has. With a Glock, it's more like the feelings I have for a shovel in the garage...

Best Regards, Rod

When I had a 24, there were places that sold conventionally rifled barrels that let me shoot cheaper ammunition.

I also changed the stock recoil spring from a 17lb to a Wolff 24lb.
