I just made my first purchase.....

So after a couple of month going trap shooting and a lot of reading here on the forum I made my first firearms purchase today.
Big surprise I'm sure, I bought a new Remington 870.
It started raining almost as soon as I left the store so no trap range for me today but hopefully next weekend.
With an OTD price of $444.32 with the hard case.
I'm sure it will give me many years of fun.

Welcome, congratulations, and good luck. I used a Remington Wingmaster Trap single shot pump myself for a coupla years...

Hey, will you do us a favor though? If it jams or has some other failure will you come back and share the info with us?!

Good luck trying to wear it out. It's a pretty safe bet that your shoulder will wear out from old age and years of use before the gun calls it quits.

Congratulations on the purchase of a nice shotgun. While the Mossbergs are gaining popularity, the Remington 870 is still the gold standard for pump shotguns. What barrel length and furniture did you select on it?

I went with the 28" barrel and "wooden" stock. I know it's a laminate but I liked the feel and the look of it better than the synthetic.

I'm sure you can find a shooting club in the vicinity and find others who enjoy it. I guess the gun culture here in Texas is a little different as that in NYC huh?:)

Very cool BB, congratulations! I agree, find a gun club and get a friend or two to join. I'm lucky, very nice local club just 1/2 mi from my house (2 actually, the 1 is indoor only but has 50yd lanes, and the other has about 20 outdoor shotgun ranges and a decent indoor 50' pistol range). I started shooting there with a couple of friends from work and now 2 of my sons shoot there with me as well. Life is good! (Wish I had done things like this with my dad)

That's why I like the rifle range with the 50' indoor lanes. The other range by me is really nice (fancy) and I like their 50yd lanes but Metro Gun Club is family owned and just has a nice friendly feel to it. Great staff, great service. A real blessing to have a gun club like that right in the cities. And maybe someday I'll actually try those outdoor shotgun ranges (my son wants me to get a shotgun so bad, I'll probably have to one of these days). I shoot at both ranges but my membership is at Metro. It's just a fun place to go and shoot.
