I just got a Swarovski Z6i 1.7-10x42 scope

...and you might think this is a weird question, but I would like recommendations for a rifle to mount it on. Bolt or AR platform. It will be used for hunting and general range shooting. Hunting will be pigs, deer and varmints. Right now, the rifles I have to choose from in FL, are a Bushmaster Predator, HK M762 and several other AR rifles. I have other rifles in another home in MO, but would like to get something in FL other than the above mentioned. I would like recommendations for a rifle that will have enough inherent accuracy to do this fine scope justice.

The rifle and the scope are only as good as the user. I've found most rifles made these days will perform well enough in the accuracy department. I'd focus my attention more towards the shooters skills. Personally I'd mount it on something I already owned and go shoot and not sweat the small stuff.
 
Good choice. What about a ruger hawkeye 308. Blue with wood? How's it compare to the 70? I'm left handed and saw one in a local shop.
 
That scope deserves a SAKO under it in 243 or 270. You have chosen wisely so far! My Sako 243 shoots the Federal Ballistic Tip 95gr almost in one hole at 100yrds with a Swarovski PV 4-16x50 on it.:eek:
 
Sakos are great rifles. The problem with me is I'm a lefty, and can't find a lot of guns that are left handed. I did find the above-mentioned Ruger, which I'm going to get( just because it is a beautiful rifle) and a Savage in 243 left hand.
 
I also have a Z6 (5-30) not illuminated. I have it on Savage 10 fcp -k. Super combo great accuracy. You'd love it.
 
I think in order to even recommend a chambering, we need to know whether you handload...

If not, then availability of factory ammunition (including current "conditions")- for both target, and hunting applications- is THE major consideration, IMO...
 
I do not reload. And I just purchased a Savage Predator Max in 260 Remington and a Browning x-bolt Hunter in 7mm-08. Both left hand rifles.

I plan to use the Savage for hunting and long range shooting, and the Browning for hunting.
 
Just curious, not judging, but why did you buy two rifles with almost the exact same cartridge. The 7mm-08 and .260 are so close in performance and literally are the same cartridge with 0.5mm difference in bullet diameter. I would have got the Browning in a 30-06, 7mag, 300 win mag, something capable/sensible for all N. American game. You sound like you may have the means to someday hunt up North or out West. I love the 7-08 and have one, but I wouldnt take it on an elk hunt if I didn't have to.
 
I would think that a LM&T or Knight's Armament AR platform in .308 would be perfect for your scope.

If you prefer a bolt gun, the Remingtron 700 VTR is worthy of consideration.
 
For pigs, deer, and varmints you don't need anything larger than what you have...

I have a custom 7-08 I use for long-range target (162 Amax), the 7mm bullet would give you a slight edge over the 6.5 in retained energy for hunting as opposed to the 6.5.

Me, I'd put that Swaro on a high-end 6.5 Grendel AR-15 build :D

It's an amazing performer, and it'll do whatever your bolt guns will do out to 600 yards. My son uses the 123 Amax in his, it's designed for that chambering and Hornady now has the same bullet in the SST for hunting applications.
