I have fallen in love with a Black Powder Rifle

As well as this inline works, I bet it could be tailered to be a real tack driver with loose powder.
I bet you could. Especially so with a scope. Can (tweak) its powder charge some with loose. But, personally I've never seen anyone tweak a pellet charge. But than again nothing is impossible. Right? Here in this State where I am. Scope's are not allowed to be used in hunting situations involving modern inline or traditional B/P weapons. Stickily >Verboten!! Tougher crowd to deal with up here in the State Capital we got. Good luck with your new Traditions. Enjoyed your company Sir.__:) SSMcG

Thanks Mr Mcgee

Thanks I really apreciate the help and advice I cant understand why you guys cant use scopes to hunt, each state has their own rules though I guess, the person that had the final say on that rule however was probably not a hunter, our only rule on black powder rifles in this state is that during muzzle loader season the rifle can only be loaded from the muzzle, rifles with revolving cylenders are not legal. Fair eneough.

I would have liked to hear what Rifleman 1776 had to say, but apreciate his being conciterate on the Lords Day.
If he only looked in my Gun Cabnet, he would probably realize that we are not far apart, most of my Rifles are in thier original military form, with the correct slings, and acesseries. I love traditional firearms too, but also enjoy inovation. My Lever action Model 94 does not wear a scope, and never will.
I am a Rifleman, and am happiest when I have a Rifle in my hands. Good day. And Thanks to all.:)

TX Hunter, the original muzzle loading hunting seasons were set up to accomodate those who enjoy(ed) trying to relive history using the guns of days past. Those were traditional muzzle loaders, percussion and flintlock. The hunters were often also reenactors who chose a period on history to emulate.
However, for several years now, the term "muzzle loader" has been adulterated to include the plastic stocked, modern looking inlines bought in shrink wrap packages from Wal-Mart. They do not resemble anything traditional.
Those of us who wish to preserve history deeply resent these guns taking away our, formerly, quiet, low pressure hunting seasons.
They are modern rifles in different dress.
And, I'm still going to stay polite and not say what I really think.

Thank you, Tony Knight

They are modern rifles in different dress.
No, they are Muzzleloaders in different dress that have no further relationship to "our" favored Traditionals. No one should ever have a problem, making that distinction. .... ;)

A Few years back, I had the "pleasure" of meeting Tony Knight, at one of his yearly auctions in Centerville. Did ask him how and why he started the In-Line thing. Basically said that M/L hunters wanted different performance, that the Traditionals of that time, did not afford. You can still see some of the legacy of hunters trying to get more performance out of their old sidelocks, by drilling and tapping their octogon barrels and bending the hammers, to accomodate the scope tubes. That was and is a real sacrilege. .....

As I have often posted, I teach and promote Muzzleloading and that includes both Traditionals and In-Lines. I could care less what anyone shoots but my passion, in in my Traditionals. I suspect that In-Liners don't really care what we shoot either or at least have never heard any of them bad mouth Traditonals. ...

Let's face it, In-lines are here to stay and growing by each seasons. I'm always encouraged when a new shooter shows and interest in the Sidelocks as I feel they are capturing the spirit and tradition that most of us have. .. :)

Keep Yor powder dry and;
Be Safe !!!

We need more responsible hunters in the woods, and more responsible firearm enthusiasts no matter what they are carrying or shooting.

I always thought it was not in good taste to disparage a feller's shoot'n iron, even if I didn't like it. I'm not going to talk bad about a feller's car, wife, dog, home or shoot'n iron. Now, if the kids are hooligans, or so ugly a dog won't play with them with a pork chop hung about each their necks, I'm going to call him out. :D

Im sorry me and my Modern Muzzle Loader Is so offensive to you. I would gladly own a Flintlock Smoothbore too. I doubt i would fire it at a Deer though, but still I would own one. The Archers are not using the same equipment the Native Americans use I wonder if there is anyone that resents them too ? Anyhow thanks for being civil eneough to not insult or degrade me or my equipment i appreciate that. Rick

Your point is well taken !!

The Archers are not using the same equipment the Native Americans use I wonder if there is anyone that resents them too ?
Oh yes, and have to admit that I might have been one of them. The modern compound bow, with all it's pulleys and wires and other stuff, was a bowman's dream come true, until we actually saw one. ....
I didn't or would not follow that crowd and stuck to my Mongolian recurve, until I quit hunting with one. However, I can't really say I resented or hated them; just not my cup of tea and that's the way of it ....

Now I watch one of our kids with one and what he can do with it and it's pretty amazing.
He puts at least two deer, in the freezer with one. .... ;)

Be Safe !!!

It's still a pretty piece.

I'm almost motivated to cop one my own self. If your rammin', I'm good with that. Anybody get's that accuracy, that's fine shooting. Congratulations.

Thanks Strafer

I apreciate it. Its definately a good shooting rifle. Im still trying to buy the Lyman and my friends still thinking about it. Then I will have a Traditional and a Modern. Anyhow i do like Muzzle Loaders and the interesting People that use them.

Well when I bought my shrink wrapped inline from walmart for a grand total of 65 bucks, that is what started my curiosity in this whole thing. So the inline simply opened the door to the traditionals I have. I'll be perfectly honest. I would much rather launch roundballs down range than anything else these days. With that said, I have been hunting a very long time and have taken more deer than I can remember. For me I wanted a challenge. Now don't get me wrong I still get excited when I see and take them. But this season I will use nothing but a front stuffer. And when I take a deer with a round ball, YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO TELL ME NOTHING :D. Will I use the scoped inline? Sure but I don't think I will carry it as much as the two sidelocks. So be kind to a new inliner, it JUST MAY BE HIS GATEWAY DRUG :D

Thanks, I am trying to get the Traditional Muzzie, its here in my house. No I didnt steal it. My Buddy Dropped it off here, a long time ago I hunted with it, tried to give it back he said hold on to it. I offered to buy it he said he would think about it, He is still thinking. I bought his Lowboy Trailer though, I figure it will be a matter of time, he will call and give me a price on the Muzzie. he acted the same way with the trailer, which I got at a very good price, soon as I paid for the trailer he reached in the glove box and gave me the registration papers for it. Strange friend, but good friend.
Anyhow, thanks again, and Im gonna try to get my Deer this coming year with my Shrink Wrap Gun. :D
