I have an addiction

I second the CZ 452 nomination. You can shoot for hours on $15 or $20. When you consider the possibilities of scopes, bipods, etc you can build them a ton of ways! Put a nightscope and suppressor on one, then put a red dot sight on another!

It keeps my CZ 75 in good company. Hoping to add a CZ 612 HC-P here soon.

Maybe there does need to be a CZ addiction group...

I wish I had the disposable income to fund my addiction, but alas, my salary doesn't leave much for me in that aspect as an A1C.

Flying is another addiction you should stay away from! unless you figure out how to get paid to do it. that worked out perdy swell for me :) one addiction pays for another

Well there's good news and there's bad news. First the bad news. It's an addiction and there isn't a twelve step program. There is no methadone treatment. There is no intervention that works. Just accept it like the rest of us.

But there's good news. It's a legal addiction. It doesn't cause cancer. It's cheaper than a sports car or boat and doesn't take up garage space. It doesn't require the maintenance demanded by a mistress.

I don't fight it anymore. My particular version is an addiction to STI 1911s and 2011s. I view my pistols like my dogs. They are never unhappy. They give me pleasure. They like getting out of the house. You are content when they are nearby.

Signs of addiction:
- you are a registered member of more than 5 online gun forums
- you have at least 10 gun related websites in your favorites list
- a picture of a Wilson Combat CBQ Elite is the background picture on your computer
- you like the smell of Hoppes #9
- you have more holsters than you have pistols
- your gun safe is more organized and cleaner than your closet
- you spent more on your range bag than you did on your briefcase
- the guys at your local gun range greet you by name when you show up
- you consider dry fire practice a form of exercise
And
- your two dogs are named Smith and Wesson.

my parents are always telling me: "why do keep buying all these guns?! shouldn't you be spending your money on better, more important things?" to which i respond:"like what? i could be buying things like drugs, big screen TV's or Xbox games that just make me sit on my tush and get fat and lazy. this way i buy things that mostly go up in value, keep me active and outside, and put food on my table at the same time."

they stopped arguing with me :D

oh and i only have 1 dog...his name is Gunner :p

If I had a dog or two, I think I'd name one Flint and the other one Locke.

Anyway, back on topic. If I had my way, I'd already have an arsenal of vintage WWII bolt action service rifles. I love guns with history behind them :)

Also, no worries about the addiction, I'd whole heartidly embrace the addiction if my financial situation would allow it, hah!

Having two weeks ago bought a second SKS (my first Yugo, an M59), it had some cosmo on numerous parts.
Why is cosmoline suddenly a nice aroma? I never thought so when up close to crates of MN 91/30s.

Must the orangy stuff be associated with a unique gun (No gr. launcher) in excellent condition before you find the smell appealing?

I also suffer from that same affliction as most users on this site ... Hi I'm greg and I'm a Gunaholic .
Could all most be considered a disability and get money from the government ... LOL

When you get bit by the gun bug it usually costs a little, I think this year I spent close to 2k on reloading equipment/ componets, and i still need a better digital powder measure and a tumbler. I guess its been cheap for a hobby- recently i had to replace my suspension on my car (drives sweet now). Not to mention money i spent on other hobbies like billiards (got a new pool cue too.) We should be able to spend a little of the hard earned money on things we enjoy, no matter what it is. happy spending- the economy needs you.

^^^ Funny how many guys who are (pick one) gun guys, car guys, billiard players, and also (choose another answer from previous list).

Maybe we should start the support group for applied Newtonian physics addicts!!

Jeez, where do I start?

About 20 years ago I thought I was addicted. I was also going through a rough patch in life - marriage on the rocks, career options in the US drying up, just generally feeling bad about stuff in general.

So I put everything in storage and left the US to pursue a different career in a different country where gun ownership is very difficult. I thought I would get away from it completely.

After a couple years I found myself with subscriptions to one and then another gun magazine. I corresponded with a gun shop and ordered a few guns which I picked up on a trip home. Even leaving the US couldn't help me make a break from my addiction.

A while after that I found an FFL in my home of residence and ordered a few more guns. When the internet started in ernest I found myself on-line all the time and before long I had more than doubled the number of guns in my arsenal. I had NIB guns, parts kits and receivers, project guns and gun parts, and a "business" mailbox at a UPS store which would hold and number of packages for me in my absence.

Now I have 70+ guns & projects - and always something else on the burner. Whenever I visit the US I have a list of tasks for the projects I am working on. I usually finish up 3 or 4 projects and make steps towards a number of others on each trip home but I never catch up.

The bottom line - I can afford it all and it isn't impacting my lifestyle so why not?
