I have a COP on the Right side.

It's definitely very collectible, that's for certain - I'd forgotten about the one in Matrix 2. I remembered the one in Blade Runner that was modified to shoot two barrels as once for the movie, more impressive that way.

When I was A ranger we had an employee that had purchased one, it seemed to function fine, but I personally couldn't hit with it for anything.

That was undoubtedly a malfunction on my part, as I was not used to the action, and had very little range time with it, but I do remember them, and always liked the idea, and design.

Master Blaster2, I admire you for carrying a COP. I have one. I have shot various loads of .357 and .38 spl. through it. Let me comment on your description and note that I am not suggesting that your impressions are wrong, only that they are not very parallel to my own.

I like how it is compact, comfortable to grip, weighs just enough to take out the sting, and the trigger pull is long however there is no way in hello it will accidently discharge. I can hit a man size targer to point at 15 yard easily.

I think the gun is fat, nominal to slightly awkward grip, despite weighing as much as it does it still is painful to shoot .357. Indeed the trigger pul is long and while it is unlikely to have an AD, I have stepped on rotten plumbs that were crisper that the COP's trigger break. I can miss a man sized target at 20 yards with alarming regularity.

With that said, I have a buddy who has shot mine and he does well with it anywhere inside 25 yards, despite the crappy sights. Suffice it to say that while the gun has a definite cool factor to it, the ergonomics do not suit me at all.

With that said, the gun does seem to be very well made. I have no qualms about the fit, finish quality.

I can't imagine trying to shoot someone with my Ruger LC9 at 60 feet! Why would you expect better with a COP 357??? Three inch groupings at 20 feet is all I expect out of any 1"-2" barrel gun. In fact, 20-30 feet is all I care about with any pocket type gun. Defending against ATM machine hold-ups, car-jackings, parking lot stick-ups - that's the kind of stuff these small short barreled guns are made for. Just my opinion.

As far as trigger pull goes, it's not a Hi-Power or a tricked out 1911. It's a 4-shot 357 pocket or vest gun made at a time when there wasn't much of any DAO 4-shot pistol that small, powerful and compact. Even by today's standards, you'd be hard pressed to find a 4-shot pistol as compact and powerful as the COP 357.

Really? I think I would give up carrying the LCP if that is the case. I really figure that I should be able to shoot any carry gun well at 25 yards. That is likely further than I will ever need it, which is fine. I would rather have a gun that can perform well further than I may need it than one that can't. There is no reason to knowingly hamstring personal security by carrying a gun that not only can you not hit well with it at fairly easy distances, but that you become a danger to others should you ever need to use it at distance.

Why would I expect better? Well, the gun is capable of shooting better, but the ergonomics of it are such that even with slow, carefully aimed fire, I can't get it to work well for me.

I can actually hit better with my NAA mini revolver than the COP.

Believe it or not, some people consider them to be fairly accurate. Given how big the gun is, I would hope so. However by 20 yards, the COP is failing miserably for me. And like I said, I have a buddy that shoots it just fine at 25.

For me the COP is in the same class as the Backup DAO .45, SS, size, weight, trigger pull and recoil. I owned both and even carried the Backup, which came in 9mm, .40 and .45 calibers, for a while, even got good enough to shoot head shots at 15 feet or so consistantly. No longer have either, Glock 27. :D
