I gotta stay out of that blankety-blank Evil Pawn Shop,,,

Hello Roger,,,

Actually, that's not bad.

I Googled the movie and found pics of the actresses,,,
The .22 Pathfinder is sleek and pretty like Ingrid Bergman,,,
The .44 Bulldog is somewhat squat and homely like Katina Paxinou.

It's a possibility,,,
Thanks for the suggestion. ;)

For the first time in yrs. I have nothing in layaway at my local gun/pawn establishment. However the last time I was in there a pristine nickel S&W model 15-2 snubby was crying to come home with me. $550 price tag, looked at it and it is lnib. Did not ask otd price, son just wrecked his truck so I am tapped out for a while. Broke my heart...

Must say I'm rather jealous of you guys that find good prices on decent firearms at pawn shops. I've never found anything like that. I know comparing prices on used firearms is dicey at best due to condition and wear variance, but my experience is that a pawnbroker generally charges a 30% or higher premium on a firearm compared to what I can find on gunbroker. And rarely do I see anything really interesting at a pawnshop. Usually it is the same old suspects.

Coulda Been

Coulda been...a rainy Monday, coulda been a rainy night,
Staggerlee and Billy Delisle had them a great big fight...

Or that coulda been Frankie's revolver:

Frankie went back to the crib house,
But this time it wasn't for fun.
Wrapped up in her yellow kimono
Was a blue-barrel .44 gun
To shoot her man,
'Cause he done her wrong, so wrong.

.44's do seem to be the weapon of choice
Although in another version of the story of Stagger Lee and Billy Stagger, Lee is said to pack a .45

"It was back in '32 when times were hard
He had a Colt .45 and a deck of cards
Stagger Lee"

Aaron, while 240 out of your .44 special is stout...I shot my friends S&W 340 PD. it is a 12oz titanium .357 mag 5 shot. The recoil was like opening the door on my 1970 Lincoln and inserting my hand on the door jamb and slamming it shut. I only got two rounds off before the recoil inertia-pulled the other factory bullets out of crimp and locked up the gun.

Never again.

Love the finish on that baby, its not the crappy (and boy do I mean crappy) matte stainless finish on the new ones they put out. Its the reason I didnt buy one in 38 special.

Would love an old 44 special CA with a blue finish and wood grip.

Check out Sootch00's youtube channel and see his CA 44 special ive been drooling over!

Get out that Mother's Mag polish and go to town! Knock the ugly off that big sister!

I named them,,,

I took the suggestion made by Roger_P,,,
The .44 Bulldog is named Pilar,,,
The .22 Pathfinder is Maria.

Thanks for the help Roger_P.

That blanket-blank Evil Pawnshop Guy must be just like the blanket-blank Evil Pawnshop Guy in my town!

He hooked me for a pink camo youth sized Remington 870 last night.

And I'm a 6'3", 225 pound man!

That blanket-blank!:D:o

P.S. - my wife and daughter love it, though! They were fighting over it the minute I got home! He has a nice set of nickel plated Rugers in .45 Colt that keep taking me back into his shop. I just hope his price comes down a bit more! Blankety-Blank!:p

i realy like my early charter arms SS .44 special bulldog with factory bobbed hammer, it shoots to point of aim at 15 yds with a 225 jhp at 800fps. eastbank.

Nice find Aaron.

I used a "Lee Loader" to load 38 wadcutters for a number of years. Nothing wrong with them at all if you're not in any hurry. I found that a Lee auto primer, a Lee case trimmer guide and cutter, a chamfer tool, and lube pad and lube to be nice to have. They'd probably cost about $25.00 these days.

Oh, and a plastic hammer. Much nicer than the hunk of 2x4 I used.

Hiya CajunBass,,,

Because of this thread I went into the closet and "found" my Lee Loader,,,
I have a Lee Auto Primer I picked up at a garage sale last summer,,,
And I have a lube pad and lube sitting there on a shelf,,,
All I need to get is the trimmer/chamfer tool.

I don't mind the slowness of the classic loader at all,,,
I remember when I used it as a kid,,,
I could reload a box of 50,,,
While watching TV.

Now, if primers ever become available again,,,
I'll be in business.
