I found a revolver,,,

I once had an old cowboy tell me that if ever pulled a gun on somebody I did not plan to shoot I should file the sites off. For that very reason.

I don't have the front sight any more,,,

Or at least I could not find it anywhere in the box I found the pistol in.

I remember it well though,,,
It was one of those square sharp things,,,
I did pull it off because it was hanging up in my pocket.

I was a stupid punk kid back in the mid 60's,,,
Not a bad guy, just not real aware of the realities of life.

I worked the closing shift at a fast food place,,,
I had to drive across town and use the night deposit box,,,
That's why I always kept that pistol in my glove compartment.

Like I said before,,,
Not clear on the concept,,,
Dallas cops would have shot me dead.

I just got back into guns after a 20 year absence from owning any. After i bought a few i remembered my mom and dad had an old .25 stashed away in a china cabinet, and last i remembered firing it 20 years ago it was a jamb-o-matic.
I asked them to check it out and reseach it on the net for reliability and value.Turns out it was imported from Germany or Italy by PIC and the chrome plating was peeling off.It was reffered to as a SNP of the 70's also.
I told them what i found out and put it back in the cabinet and ill just let it finish falling apart where it sits.

Well, I am getting old........

I'll be 70, next month. But, I never found the gun.
A couple 'r 3 years ago, we were getting satellite TV installed.
And the installer called to say he was on the way. I had an old Taurus
model 450, snubby, .45 Colt, laying on the shelf, in the closet where the cables would enter the house.... And, just then I thought of it.

So I went & grabbed it out of said closet.......Just then the guy rang the doorbell. So I laid the gun up.......in another closet.

A few days later, I remembered the Taurus .45 Colt had been hidden, in the closet, where the cables came in. But....I forgot, I'd moved it.
Well I vaguely remembered, sort of.
So, I searched the house over, twice. I never found that gun. When DSW came home, I told her. She thought it was funny; I was beginning to think of calling the satellite company to report the "theft".
DSW helped me look over the house a couple more times. No gun.
I'm cussin' & swearin'. She said, "Sit down, have some coffee. It's here."
She continued looking.

Next day, we looked again. And she found it.
In the closet in the computer room, on a shelf, behind some of her artist supplies.......there was the gun, just where I'd hid it.
I had a hard time living that one down.
Now, I have a list, detailing where each of the guns, not in the safe are hidden.
Did y'all ever do that??

Hello Old John,,,

I did the same thing but it was another person's pistol,,,

I make holsters and I had this old H&R revolver on my workbench,,,
A friend came visiting and I set the rev aside without thinking,,,
It was a week before I found it under a stack of patterns.

The embarrassing part was that I had to fib to the owner as to why his holster was late,,,
I just couldn't tell him (at the time) that it was because I ~lost~ his gun.

Yes, I have a T series ring hammer Browning Hi-Power that has "disappeared." I have been searching for several
years now.

I scored on somebody elses forgetful find

I just bought this never fired S&W Model 19-4 snub nose .357 revolver.
The original owner passed away about 11 years ago and his widow was going thru one of the floor safes they have a couple months ago and she found "this old revolver in the bottom of the floor safe that I forgot about"
They own a rather large apartment complex and they keep their books, receipts and money received in a couple of different floor safes for protection.

She found this revolver in the bottom of one of them, covered with some old receipt books. She said it's been in the safe for probably 25-30 years and she totally forgot it was in there.
I bought it from her at market value, just so I would have a snub nose revolver. It fits in my collection of revolvers very nicely.
