I found a 646!!

6forsure, have you actually read the "agreement"? Your point is flawed to say the least. You are attempting to compare apples to bulldozers. What part of traitor do you not understand?
Are we better off if boycotting a "local" manufacturer puts them out of business. You damn right we are. We are not trying to destroy Smith & Wesson. We are trying to preserve our rights. We are trying to send a message back to the White House that we are united and will not tolerate black mail and/or bullying to force us into submission. We will not allow them to take away our rights from a left handed approach using the civil courts.
With people like yourself on our side it is not difficult to see why the RKBA is such a struggle.
Smith & Wesson sold us out. Not the other way around. We are simply responding.
Note: I would have preferred to take the above rant off forum. However that is not possible with no e-mail address and I simply can not quietly sit back.

i read the agreement. it s*cks. they have cut their own throat.

if one boycotts sw and not ruger, they are the ultimate hypocrit. every company that i have listed has sold us out in a similar manner too.

i'll buy smiths if quality is there in a product that i want. same as mak90 from red china. same as cz75 before the curtain fell.

You guys haven't crossed the line yet. But you are getting dangerously close to ad hominem arguments. Member bashing is the one thing that is not tolerated on TFL. This thread started out with one members joy over finding a gun he had been lusting for and it has degraded to just another S&W bashing session. I'm not against that per se, but it should be done in the General Discussion forum, if at all. I'm not sure what more can be said about S&W that hasn't already been said.

Let's let the jets cool for awhile.

I'm sorry Thomas, but if you buy a new S&W, whether it is on the dealer's shelf or not, you might as wll go to DC & participate in the Million Moms March, & kiss Rosie on the cheek.

Why?

Well, even if you have not given S&W a dime, you have decided not to support those firearm manufacturers that have decided to stand and fight. To take this stand will hurt them were it hurts most - at the bottom line. You have said with your purchase that you don't care, & that instead of using your hard earned money to support their effort by purchasing their products, you will blast the internet message boards with what fantastic products S&W produces, and use countless methods of logic to justify your purchase.

You might as well vote for Gore this fall.

I too was looking at a new S&W. The first handgun I ever purchased was a 686 revolver, I also own a 4516. I was seriously considering a .40 semi-auto of S&W manufacture for my collection. After they signed the agreement & Taurus was among the first to say "NO", I instead bought a new Taurus PT940 and promptly sent an e-mail message to customer service stating the purchase was intended as support of their decision.

Who are you sending a message to?

Want to do the right thing? Go sell the traitor gun you bought, & take what ever you get for it & use it to buy a Beretta, Glock, Taurus, Browning, or whatever.

That, or continue to post messages (& I'm sure talk to your friends) about what a great revolver S&W makes, & sell some more guns for them by using the "well, if the dealer has it you at least aren't helping S&W any ...

Meanwhile, the other gun companies are struggling to protect their business' - and in doing so, are trying to protect our 2nd Amend. rights.

You have turned your back on them, just like S&W did to us.

I agree with your equating Suck and Wimpy with Ruger. I don't buy either product.

I completely disagree with your comments towards Winchester, Remington, Taurus, etc. None of these companies agreed to not allow you to buy their products, nor to bar dealers from selling anyone else's products. They didn't agree to change their products. Winchester restricted ammo due to liability concerns and (with Black Talon) to prevent a total ban. They then introduced an item (Ranger SXT) that works just as well if not better than BT but without the baggage. Taurus responded to a perceived niche in the market with their locking system, and told Clinton to screw off when it came to the agreement. Remington just has its collecive head up its butt, but they haven't designed the products so you CAN'T add the accessories.

You're clearly looking to justify your continued support of a foreign owned company which sold us out. Fine. Don't make disparaging and false comments about other companies who haven't. Try not to be Clintonesque.

Congrats and safe shooting with your new 646.

Bill Ruger gave $1 Million to the NRA with no tax break and they have publicly spoken out against the S&W agreement. I favor instant background checks versus an all-out ban. My wife owns an Internet Company and I can tell now that the technology is in place to do it quickly whether at a gun show or gun shop. The longest I have ever had to wait is twenty minutes.

Bill did make a mistake with the magazine ban thinking that they could get by with a 15 round limit. Ruger has since made amends. Ruger is defintley no in the same category as Colt or Smith and Wesson.

If Bill Ruger were to "produce" a gold brick, someone would find a scratch on it. I can tell you that one million dollars is still alot of money and when you have a company like Ruger that probably maintains a daily accounts payable balance (what is owed for supplies, services and raw materials) of $30 to $40 million at any given time, not including salary and benefits expenses, 1 million with no tax shelter is a sacrifice.

Show me where Ruger repudiated his comments about having to give up something to keep what you have longer. Show me where Ruger apolgoized for helping to enact the 1994 Crime Bill. You think it's coincidence that the Mini-14 isn't listed as an assualt weapon?

Until Ruger publicily acknowledges that he was wrong, he's on the boycott list. Giving money doesn't mean s***. He gave the money to the museum, not to fighting for the cause.
