"Seriously though, I do CCW, so I guess I ought to get me a snubbie. Does it HAVE to be a 'hammerless'?"
Like most everything else in this world, it is a trade-off. Hammerless models have less to snag on clothing, so are more likely to be able to be drawn smoothly from concealment. OTOH, many "safety holsters" are designed with retaining straps that wrap around the hammer spur. So, if you are wanting to use such a holster, you need to get a model that has a traditional hammer spur. Also, if you ever want to do any sort of single action shooting, you'll need some sort of hammer spur -- either the traditional sort or the "shrouded" one that just has the tip end exposed.
