I don't own a revolver. Am I a bad person?

Yes - you're a bad person.
No cookie for you.
:D

All kidding aside, whatever floats your boat. If you don't care for wheel guns don't let it bother you. Personally I have little or no use or desire anymore for a full auto or even a semi auto knock off of a full auto.

Weird. For as long as I can remember I wanted a Thompson, but could never afford one. Now that I can finally afford one.... I don't want one anymore.

I bought an S&W .357 mag just so I wouldn't be a bad person. It's awful lonely in my gun safe though, all by itself with all those semi-autos. :p

In my case, I am such a dedicated relaoder that I really enjoy being able to
transfer my brass from the revolver to the ammo box rather than tracking it down. I have carried and used both in action.

I didn't own or shoot anything but autos for twenty years. Somehow the idea of the bullet traveling through the cylinder, then smashing into the forcing cone, then finally contacting the rifling and lining itself up, seemed...well....sort of crude. Then one day at the range a friend had me shoot his .357 wheelgun. It was fun to shoot, of course, but I was fascinated by the mechanics of how it worked. The cylinder turning as I slowly pulled the trigger back, then locking in just the right spot, then the hammer coming down with a big KABOOM. Absolutely incredible. With the autos you have the whole top of the gun sliding back and forth all the time and the empty shell casings flying everywhere. And you have to screw around with the lips at the top of the magazine every time you change to a different type of ammo in order to get them to feed right. Plus, you look down the line and everybody there has a gun just like yours. I eventually got rid of all my autos and now own nothing but revolvers.

Maybe what you ought to do is go to the range and crank off 50 or 100 rounds through a revolver and see if you like it. Some ranges even rent guns. You might find out you have to have one or two............or fourteen. ;)

"Yep, I own three autos, a shotgun (collectible), and the .22lr I grew up shooting. Should I feel unfulfilled?"

Not if revolvers just aren't your thing. On the other hand if it's been awhile since you've spent time with a wheelgun, perhaps you owe it to yourself to rectify the matter.

Heck, afterall it wouldn't be that much fun being a wheelgun fanatic if everyone else started doing it too. :D

I think I finally admitted to myself this year that I'm really into guns for good, no more armchairing it. I think maybe I'll get a snubby for CCW, but I would love to have a big bore caliber. I just don't shoot enough to warrant getting another gun right now. But man, some revolvers are just so dang cool.

I was in your place a while ago - didnt own a revolver because I didnt like "dem old looking guns". Well after looking at my autos I realized it wasnt the gun looking old, because I daily carry either a Kimber Pro Carry or a Browning High Power - both designs date over 50 years+.....

I bought a new Smith and Wesson model 637 2" snubbie .38spl for ankle carry. My reasoning was ehh, its a gun thats going to be beating around on my ankle all day - revolver is more reliable and forgiving so I "have" to buy a revolver.

Then when I shot it I just had to have another revovler.....man, its nuttin like shooting an auto. I was a revolver snob before but now I am converted. I dont have many but atleast I have seen the error of my ways. My second favorite is a NAA mini .22mag - its a handy little piece.

If you havent owned a N frame Smith,

That dosent make you evil or a terrable person.
BUt there should be tears in every one's eyes for you, not me because that just leaves more for ME ;)

There are few triggers in autos in the class of older Smiths and colt Pythons. I have Glocks and after firing an unmodified Smith N frame and then picking up a glock, the glock is like firing a gun made out of concrete with sand paper for surfaces.
And Im not going to get into that glock Good/bad thing.
Even the Beretta Cougar that I have is not much to write home about.
The only really good trigers that I have felt on autos was the HK P7 and the Colt Gold cup that I own.
Yes there are bad smith triggers, but as a hole revolvers are better.
For me revolvers are also more accurate.
If your happy with only autos then :)
If you want to add revolvers to your collection :)
BUt if any one says that one or the other is the ONLY way to go :barf:
Get a good N frame and figure it out for yourself

rgoudy1975: Come over (even ½ way) to the round side. You won't regret it.

Shameless plug: S&W 642- the best CCW firearm

No, just missing out.

I also love autoloaders, but some of my favorite pistols are revolvers. The pistol I carry the most when I am hicking, camping, and hunting is a revolver.

I see everyone here saying revolver=S&W when they talk to this guy. I'd just like to say:

redhawks rock!

You may now return to your regularly scheduled S&W number-throwing session.

rgoudy1975. I've given your question a little more thought. Here's what I think you should do. Buy yourself an older S&W 629, preferrably in stainless, with a six inch barrel. Then if you don't like it you can post it in the Classified Forum. By the way, I'm looking for a S&W #103606. :)
