I did something really dumb today.

Work is slow due to tomorrows holiday so I decided to go to the range. I got there, signed in (private indoor pistol range) and went out to my lane. I opened my range bag and found......NO GUNS!

I packed my bag before I left the house. It's a workday; I don't have any actual work scheduled but if my phone rings I gotta go, so I'm not carrying (company policy). I called my wife and she reports that 3 pistol softcases, with enclosed pistols are sitting on the desk in my office.

I'm out of free rentals, so I just went to lunch instead. Dammit!

Anyone else ever go to the range and forget to bring something really, really important? Like at least 1 gun!

Yeppers,,, I have,,,,,

Went to the range (27 miles) one time,,,
And left my ammo bag sitting on my couch.

Fortunately one of the good folk at the range,,,
Sold me 100 rounds of .22 LR ammo.

Me and my Henry Accubolt had a nice afternoon.

Not the range, but a friend and I went hunting about 30 miles away one Saturday morning and upon getting within about 5 miles of the location, he realizes that he did not bring his gun...:D

I've gone to the range a couple of times intending to shoot a particular gun only to get there and realize that I forgot to bring the ammo for it (luckily, I never take just one gun so I've always had something else to shoot). While I've not done it, my dad has taken guns to the range and forgotten to bring the magazines for them before (shooting a CETME with no mags presents quite a bit of difficulty).

LMAO...... I havent done that yet, but sounds like something i would do. :D
I've drove 25miles to the range and arrivede 5 minutes before closing:mad:
and all i could think about was those "phone first" commercials...lol

I thought I had two full boxes of ammo in my bag but got there and found out I had less than 40 rounds!! Not a big deal but it was not a smart move.

UMMM YAAA--As a safty thing, when i come home from range i take bolts out of rifles and store seperate from my rifles. Got out to range and no bolts....:o

Collected brass all day and went home...

Hello all,
I have a Rem. 700 in 6mm. and last year I was cleaning it up to go to the range.
I got there unloaded .22 rifles, .22 pistols, .22 ammo, 6mm ammo, 6mm rifle, no bolt for Rem. 700. :confused::o :(

I had to packup all the stuff and go back just to get the Rem. bolt that I left on the bench. I wasn't but 20 minutes each way but it was inconvient nun-the-less.:(

Happy shooting

I forgot magazines once.

You can still shoot Ruger 10/22s and ARs without magazines but it sure seems to defeat the purpose of a few things.

I was running late on indoor league night once so when I got home from work I only had time to shower, choke down a sandwich grab my range bag and head to the club. After arriving there and waiting to be called to the line I realized that I had rushed out of the house and forgot to pack my damn gun. I ended up borrowing my buddies gun to shoot my three relays.

I've lugged 50 lb of stuff down a ravine, set up targets 200 yds away, set up the spotting scope and then discovered that I forgot the key to the rifle case. Twice. D'oh! Fortunately I usually bring more than one gun. I've now switched most of them to combo locks for just that reason.

brmfan: "It's the doors' fault!! "

Thought you were going to blame it on Jim Morrison. Had a remark about weed all ready to go. ;)

Drove all the way to the range (private range) without my key fob. (Thats the way in). No one else there either.
Yep, That wasn't the fun night of shooting I had planned.

A few years back, a group of us went on a Caribou hunt in Canada.
Upon unpacking, one of the guys discovered that he had brought his 30-06 rifle, and two fresh boxes of .270 ammo. He had the only -06 in camp that week.
Ammo was purchased in the closest town, and then flown in to us at a cost of $84.00 a box Canadian.
We still chuckle about this.

Thanks for planting those ideas into my head!
Now, within a couple months I'll pull one of them.
I have a photographic memory, but no film.:D

Had you asked me 4 weeks ago, I'd have said "no" but....

Opening day of quail season:

10 minutes from house my buddy says, "You brought your hunting license, right?"

"CRAP!"

OK, so we lose 20 minutes there. No big deal.

We get to where we're going and suddenly I realize I have a couple of boxes of 20 ga ammo, and a 12 ga shotgun. Ooops.

I suppose that's what I get for actually packing up on the morning of rather than the night before. I am so not a morning person!
