*I* did a (sort of) bad bad thing for real

Hey, if you really want something, sometimes you are willing to pay too much.

I paid full suggested retail for my USP 45C when they were first available, and I just paid $2500.00 (about 10% too much) for a NIB blue label Colt 6520 Gov't Carbine. Do I regret it... NO WAY!

I hope it turns out to be the perfect pistol for you, you will never look back if you form a bond with it like I have with a some of my weapons!

Well..., the consensus seems to be in! :)

I figured, maybe, $450-500 for the 228, 150-175 for the Ruger, 350 for the Glock, and maybe $50 apiece for the hi-caps (but I'd heard, recently, that Sig hi-caps are still in good supply, so that $50 might be over).

The Kimber was priced at $959..., so, yeah, it probably wasn't the best deal in the world :), but it allows me to consolidate my calibers a little.., and I already have a Kahr MK40 Elite to handle 40S&W hideout tasks, and several .22 handguns.

But, yeah..., I probably should'a waited 'til I had some extra cash to throw in, instead of hardware :) But, otoh, I think the Kimber will end up as my major carry weapon when I'm not worried too much about concealment.

Let ye who has not rushed to the gunshop like a kid in a toystore and accepted any deal for the last one of the long awaited new gun cast the first lead.

Shotgun news-High cap police only mags.As we all know police mags to officers are a lot cheaper then the pre-ban mags.KY imports used 13 rds mags for 228 at 79.99 apiece.
New at 99.99 apiece. That makes retail on your mags from 500 to 600.

Hey, right at the peak of hysteria after the Mag-Gelding law, a regular customer offered me some obscene price ($800, IIRC) for the SIG 228 on my hip with its 3 normal-cap mags (1 13-rd factory, 2 15-rd flush-fit Mec-Gars) plus the Bianchi PDQ it was in and the matching mag pouch. I said "of course!", cleverly thinking I'd turn around and plough the money into a fresh one. Somehow it wound up spent, and I still have no P-228.

He's moved out of town, but still drops by or calls once every couple months to tell me how sweet that SIG is doing. Putz...

Let this be a lesson for everyone, whether cars or guns, that mechandise for merchandise trades are the best way to get f___ed. Everyone knows what a dollar is worth, but not so for a piece of merchandise. Get a blue book value before you deal, or at least a consensus from others, like TFLers, if not both.

Let me get this straight, you traded a double action classic for a single action whatever.

Grandma, Grandma, come quick, it's happened again......

Seriously, you should at least have kept 3 of the hi-caps.

Regards,

Mike H

This is a lesson I've also learned the hard way: sell privately, for the best $$ you can get. And buy privately as often as possible.
Or, at the very least, buy from a dealer with
the best price.

Ouch.

Okay! Everybody put down the salt and step away from this post! Enough's, enough.

[But, what were you thinking! I have a feeling you knew it was "a bad bad thang" as soon as you got home. Seriously, enjoy your new Kimber. It was new wasn't it? At least you ended up with a fine gun. If that's the worst deal you will ever make, at least it's over and you can go on with life a wiser man.]

Congradulations on your new acquistion. I too have seen this beauty and am sorely tempted. What I need is a range report. Please tell me what you think of the performace of this handgun as I am also considering it.

Mag-Gelding? Could we also call it the Magectomy law? ;) A lady with a sense of humor, extensive knowledge of firearms and the poise to keep everything in good taste.

Funny thing happened to me: I was lucky enough to meet someone who shot a *&* 686 loaded with .357's better than me and she's now my wife.

If you are happy, who cares what anyone else thinks. Be your own man. Life is to short to worry about details.

As my mother would say..."As long as your happy."

Coincidentally that's what she said about my EX as well. Hmmmm......

Gotta ask one question though, did you at least get a reach a..... I'd better not finish that one :)

I have 2 preban 10/22's I'll trade you for a postban AR15? Or, in other words, you must have been freaking nuts...

You should get some help for that low impulse control (or no impulse control) problem before it becomes even more dangerous! ;)

Kirk,
Yep. It is only money. Enjoy the new Kimber.

(looking around after he leaves)
(Wonder if he'll trade me a new Porshe for my Civic, heheh.)

*Oh! cough cough,,ahem,, I see you're back! Yeah I like my Kimber a lot! Man, I am so glad I took the time to read this though. I was looking at a Kimber Stainless on Saturday, and the thought of those 2 old pinned and recessed Smith Model 19's that I seldom shoot crossed my mind. Thanks for taking the heat for me ;)

OBTW, the pinned beautys are still safe in the safe :)

Anyhow, really, enjoy the Kimber. If you're happy with it you paid the right price.

Hey, I've got a S&W .38 snubbie that I'll trade you for the Kimber. It comes with an ankle holster and two boxes of ammo. But only if you throw in a Kydex holster for the Kimber. ;)

NEVER deal with gun stores. I wanted to sell my Delta Elite 10mm with 6 original Colt mags and was offered a whopping $ 75 for the whole deal. I did not deal.

Privately is much better. You can find people at gun shows and "some" small dealers at gun shows will do you right.

Sorry man but "you did do a bad thing". Hey, but if you're happy what does the rest matter? Enjoy. Enjoy.

By the way, I'll give you $10 for all of that Black Talon. Want my address?
