*I* did a (sort of) bad bad thing for real

I've been agonizing over it for several days. Today, I took my Sig 228 w/ 4 hi-cap mags, a Glock 27, and a Ruger Mark II .22... all in nearly mint condition..., into the gun store, and walked out with a Kimber Pro CDP (even trade, with the store throwing in a little ammo.)

I don't exactly have buyer's remorse yet :) ..., but I definitely regret the Sig.

OTOH, that Pro CDP is a *really* nice pistol. Feels better in my (large) hand than does the Compact.

Now I have to figure out what to do with over 500 rds. of 9mm ammo (mostly Black Talon (the old, original Black Talon)).

Oh..., and the guy at the gun store yesterday insisted Sig no longer manufactures the 228. He said they consolidated it into the 229. That contradicts what I've read here.

AIIIEEE!!! A Sig P228 with 4 hi-caps! Seriously, wait that was seriously. Last I heard Sig was still making the 228 but most of them are being used to fill gov't and other contract orders. Good luck with your new weapon. Just have a special place in my heart for the 228. Enjoy, Kimber makes a fine weapon!

Guessing here but seems to me that the four hi caps, the Glock and the Ruger will cover the store's investment in the Kimber. Their profit will come from the sale of their free Sig 228. Me thinketh the price a tad high.

But, you got a hellofa good gun that uses a real cartridge.

Look on the bright side. You now own a pistol chambered for the most efficient self-defense caliber in the world. If you were able to shoot all of those pistols many times before trading them and enjoyed them what the heck?

As Jeff Cooper says, the .45ACP is the only round that can offer a sufficient level of protection even with ball ammo.

Kirk D; Sorry, my friend but I believe that your dealer took full advantage of you! :)
They saw where they could turn a huge profit,
so they were willing to trade. I can't say
that you got a "good deal"; by any means,
but if you are happy then so beit. Go out
and enjoy your new toy!!! :D

Oh the humanity! Why? Why? Some actions can never be understood my mere mortals. So long as you're happy. I'll bet that from here on you'll always regret parting with the P228, however.

As usual the gun shop "expert" is wrong. SIG Sauer still makes the P228. World wide it's one of their best seller. They're a little hard to find NIB in the US but they can still be had.

So many pistols, so little money.

Lets see,4 hi caps at 100.00 each, ruger at 175 or so.What does the Kimber cost.Wish you would have told me.I would have found a kimber for you, paid for it and traded fast.
The 228 used is worth at least 600 around here,in fact I have a LEO looking for one bad and can't find.Glock bring used about 400.00.
To me totals up to about 1500.00 or so.I know I am not far off.Think I would quite doing going into that shop.
PS.We have been nailed at one time or another. Its part of learning.

I started to make a comment then I thought, "Who am I to talk?" Enjoy your new pistol and don't look back. :)

Sorry to hear that, you could have probably sold the SIG P228 with 4-hi caps for enough money to buy the Kimber.

But it's not like none of us ever done similar things before. Remeber, you really don't need it, you just want it. :D :D :D

 I hope you can still sit down after takin the shaft like that....

Sorry, I had to get that off my chest. Anyway, if you are happy and enjoy the new gun, congratulations and best of luck to you.

Ouch! I fully appreciate being seduced by the Kimber, I just fell for a Custom Royale myself (and woulda bit off the Pro CDP if I didn't already have a Compact in stainless). The CDP is a beauty, but I think you overpaid. Not that it's never happened to me, either, and there's no rule that says you'll always win in life, consider it part of your education. OTOH, you got a great gun, I hope it keeps you and yours safe and serves you well. M2
