I caught the bug...

The C&R bug is quite a hard bug to fight off. Being in Massachusetts limits me a little bit on where I can purchase from but so Far I got the CZ-82 and the 1895 Nagant Revolver. What should I go for next? Tokarev? Steyr M95? Walther P-1? So many good choices!

I just go the ammo shipped in for it so I haven't gotten it to the range yet sadly, but it feels really good in the hand and is very clean. Has some holster wear but other than that its in great shape. I cant wait to shoot it. Do you have a P1?
 
Yes, I do. The first one I got, had a small piece of the internals missing. SOG paid all postage and sent me another. I'm very pleased with it. Some people say they are not very accurate, but mine seems to hit where I point it.

1. Walther P1
2. Yugo M57 (Yugoslavian variant of the Tokarev. 1 extra round capacity, much better safety)
3. Polish P64
4.Mosin Nagant 91/30 (since you mentioned rifles. Great shooters, and surplus ammo is still available, and reasonably priced.)
5. Swiss K-31 (Beautiful, unique straight pull rifle. Made like a.....well, Swiss watch. Surplus ammo available, but supply drying up)
6. Sreyr M95 (cool little rifles, low price, but ammo, and the necessary en-bloc charger clip may be hard to find.)
7. Yugo SKS (If allowed in your state.)

I've wanted to pick up a Tokarev for years, but have just never gotten around to it.

Now days the ammo is drying up and the guns are spiking in prices along with everything else.
 
I had a P1 some time ago but sold it. I currently have 2 P38 as I prefer the steel frame and feel it is not quite as loose as the P1. Just MHO
 
My first was a Walther 1962 P1, then a 1917 DWM P08, and a Walther AC 41 P38.
My last buy was a 1941 SS issued Walther PP.
They are all quite accurate handguns,and the ammo is still on the market for them all.
My next search is for a Radom,and so it go's, on and on.
 
Cheapshooter Love the name and the suggestions lets see what we got here:

1. Walther P1- Agreed I love walthers and can never go wrong with a 9mm.

2. Yugo M57- I always go back and forth on this one and the Romanian one because where I buy the Romanian one is a little cheaper and has 1 more Mag.

3. Polish P64- The store I buy from sold out of these not too long ago sadly. I like the simplicity of the blow-back design.

4.Mosin Nagant 91/30- Already own and love one of these, was the second gun I ever bought even before I knew what a C&R was :)

5. Swiss K-31- The straight bolt mechanic and just the overall quality of goods the Swiss produce defiantly has me eying one of these.

6. Sreyr M95- Cant go wrong with 99 dollar powerhouse rifle, but the limited amount of venues that ship ammo to Mass(I hate this state) combined with an already scares caliber makes me think twice

7. Yugo SKS- Im almost positive they are legal and I may hold off on one of these because I want to find a really nice Russian made one. I got a thing for Russian surplus

Speaking of Russian firearms, I'm just dreaming for the day the Russian made Makarovs are C&R eligible. Anyone know why the East German ones are and not the Russians?

I'm not familiar with the laws in the Socialist States of this one time free country. Are you allowed to but Curio and Relic firearms from out of state distributors, and have them shipped to you? Actually the major reason for the C&R license in the first place.
If you can you need to contact AIM, Southern Ohio Guns, Centerfire Systems, and others with a signed copy of your 03 FFL.

Ahh, well that's a whole new reason to buy both the East German and the Russian Maks.

Well the thing with this awful state I live in is, that it is not illegal to have ammunition or firearms(to C&R) shipped right to your house but the Attorney General basically bullies and threatens company's that send them to Massachusetts residents. And since Mass has some of the most convoluted and complex laws a lot of company's just don't bother trying to figure out or even bother with dealing with our state.

People from the state even go on shooting forums and see if people are talking about receiving ammo or firearms. Im a member on northeastshooters.com and you can't even talk about where you get your supply from because it will get ratted out and the AD's office will bully them into not shipping to our state.

But im gonna check out some of the places you suggested and try my luck :)

Looking good bro! Should have added a pic of the Mosin! That CZ is looking great, much nicer then what it looked on Skype with a terrible connection. Nice to see you active in TFL, I have learned so much from the members here.

Except that the Soviet Union, which made the majority of the Makarovs, is as dead as East Germany is.

The 50 year rule applies as a standard, except in cases where the gun comes from a country that no longer exists.

This is why the CZ-82 is C&R eligible. Czechoslovakia is now the Czech Republic, a totally different nation from the one previously under Soviet control.

It's also the reason why East German Makarov's are C&R eligible and Bulgarians are not. I believe that Soviet Military Makarovs would also be C&R eligible--just not the commercially produced IJ-70 models(they are not historic and are commercially produced following the transition from the USSR).

Bulgaria is still the same country that it's always been. It's just not under political control from the Soviet Union, therefore it's Makarov's are not C&R eligible.

Exactly right, as I understand it, on the Soviet-made Maks, but NOT the ones made commercially for export in the Russian Federation.

Some years before he died my Dad bought an East German Mak. VERY nice handling gun, and the trigger is really quite exceptional.
