Its a tubular fed Semi - auto. Its a real nice rifle and it reminds me of the good ol days when hunting with dad over a decade ago. I just had a couple of questions. The newer one I bought has the automatic bolt safe feauture if thats what you call it. Does it engage everytime its empty and Im sure it quits once its loaded and you cock the gun right? Also what would be a good scope for it for looking close up to targets at around 65-75 yards? Im not hurting for money so Id like to get a nice tough scope for it. Adjustable is fine but Id like to stay under 150 bucks. Im mainly going to use it for plinking and target shooting but hunting occasionaly. What would be the best Ammo I could feed it? I heard federal makes good accurate .22 LR ammo. Thanks:cool::cool::cool:

Last round bolt hold open - useful as you know when you are empty. Once you reload tube release it and start shooting. No need to "cock" again, just release. I have had very good performance with bulk Winchester and Federal. Around $20.00 at Walmart for 500 plus rounds.

Fun gun. Learn how to disassemble and clean it well, and I am not talking about the bore or chamber. Mine gets dirty inside quickly with some ammo.

If yours gives you any jamming problems, strip it down and completely clean it with hoppes 9, and dont put any oil on it. That will solve most jamming/feeding issues.

The best ammo for them is CCi minimags, while the best cheaper ammo I've found for it is definitely the federal AUTOMATCH packs from walmart. The automatch is more expensive than golden remingtons but alot cheaper than minimags, and not too much worse.

As for the scope, depends on what zoom you want. If you want something high like 24x, I am happy with the scope I put on mine. Its the 150 midway edition 6-24x BSA from midwayusa. At 50 yards and below it is super clear, but at 100+ is when you can't even compare it to quality glass. Otherwise, if you just want like 6x, then get a better brand, not sure if there are leupolds that cheap but at lower zoom maybe there are. If your looking at 75 yards and closer, I don't believe quality glass will make a big difference. As long as it tracks and holds zero should be fine.

First thing to do is remove the action and bolt and thoroughly clean both. Clean out the notches on each side of the chamber where the extractors go as well. Put ONE drop of oil on the action and bolt, that is plenty.
My 60 does not like the CCI Mini-mags but shoots Federal and Winchester bulk well. Federal Automatch is it's favorite so far.

I have had a $15 Barska 3-7X20 on my Marlin 795 since I bought it 4 months ago. Zero has held and at the range you are talking about it does just fine. It takes some serious hold over but it can get me out to 300 yards on a 2' square steel plate too.

I've been happy with the Simmons 3X9X32 .22mag scope,I think its like $60-70 still[?]. My Mar 60 does well with the Fed 510's [bunch stored] and AE Target ammo. The 60 was one of my 1st .22 Rifles I ever bought, owned many othe semi RF's over the years and sold most but always held onto it.

Have fun be safe!

Avoid Remington Golden Bullets...worst ammo EVER.

Clean the action after every range visit/hunting trip...the Marlins are like M-16's,
a clean rifle is a happy, non-jamming rifle.
RimfireCentral.com has all the help topics you will EVER need for the 60.

I'm an off-brand kinda guy, I like the Center Point 4-16x40, which is Overkill,
but it'll help you put the bullets precisely where you want 'em.
The bell-size is a bit of an issue, tho...you have to use see-thru rings.

The 3-9x30 fits a bit easier...I used a DIP Pic Rail for height and the ability to use quik-change rings.

I can't justify spending over $100 on a scope when the CP's do the job for under $75.

I think you made a very good choice for a 22 rifle. My preference these days for a middle grade scope is the Weaver 2.5-7x or 3-9x AO Rimfire scopes. I have both and they are quite good.

Ammo... 22's seem to have a general preference for a particular ammo. Testing is the only real way to figure out which your rifle likes. But the CCI Mini-Mags are usually good. I like the Federal Lightning (50ct box) ammo as a cheaper ammo that does pretty well and has a low fail to fire (FTF) rate. I would not run a steady diet of the hyper velocity ammo through it (like Stingers, Velocitors, Interceptors, Yellow Jackets, etc.) as I have read that they cause problems eventually.

I have a inexpensive bushnell banner 3x9x40 on my Marlin 60. Works fine for everything between 10-100 yards I'll shoot at with my Marlin. Oh and Federal Auto match works the best in mine too. The Fed 550 bulk pack works good too but the bullet placement from round to round is not as consistent as the auto match.

My favorite rimfire scope is the Mueller 4.5-14 APV. A mueller APV will set you back ~$125 but the clarity of the glass is spectacular for a scope in that price range.

Okay the only ammo I will be using is Federal ammo, since everybody gave it a good review,I never had a problem with remington rimfire ammo but I will keep at Federal since its a new gun and I want to take care of it the best I can
