My first CCW gun I used, back 20 years ago, was a S&W 640 Centennial in .38 Spl. I still have that gun!

What is the difference between a Ladysmith and a Mansmith anyhow? You "wise guys" hold off, no wisecracks.
Long as it doesn't have pink grips, I don't care what you carry.
Honestly, a J-frame, especially in stainless, is a useful carry option. My M36 sees frequent pocket time.

Beautiful revolver!
I was issued and carried a 4" Model 28. Mind you this was in uniform not concealed. I got a 6.5" Model 27 hand a Hoyt breakfront made for it (had one for the 28).
You could really notice that extra 2.5 inches. Setting in a patrol car it pushed the butt of the revolver into your rib cage. I like shooting the Model 27 but it sucked as a service revolver.
Carried off something in a shoulder holseter. The barrel length did matter much then.
I've long since been retired, now its a 642 in my pocket. Still shoot both the 28 & 27 but I dont carry them much.
