i am sucker for my kid...10.22

Atleast you ended up with a good .22, can't get anybetter than a 10/22 i don't think. I love mine and upgrades are endless. The person talking about his kid gravitating towards the evil black rifle section, well now thats right where he needs to be...:D

I know how you feel...

I have some adorable little nieces who can milk my wallet with the sad-face.

And that 10/22 is a GREAT choice. Just find the ammo that it likes most (the "semi-auto" rounds that federal and CCI make work best in mine) and teach her how to strip it and clean it and it will endure many years of use.

Thanks for all the replies, especially spoolup and others who have served that I may have missed.

I am fortunate to have a great relationship with my daughter, and wife, and I hope rounds down range will only solidify it. My kid loves it, still working on the wife.

Thanks again to everyone's responses.

This was probably the best decision you could have made, you let her pick it out so it'll be something she wanted thus leading to her shooting it more and you bought a quality rifle that may very well end up being handed down to your great grandkids some day.

Gravitated right toward the Evil Black Rifles, and said, "Why can't we get one of these ones?"
I've got the same problem, my 7 year old (well almost 7 anyway) is infatuated with them, especially the M-4 version. We watch a lot of gun and hunting shows together on TV so he sees a lot of military personnel carrying them. He even has an M-4 dart gun that's his favorite toy gun. I will probably end up picking up a stripped lower and building him an AR before it's all over with but for right now I've got a Marlin 15YN on stand by for when he's ready to graduate from the BB gun.
