I am SO far behind....

Yesterday, my boss, the other gun nut in my department invited me to his house.

His safe is three times larger than mine and it is full with a plethora of guns....

He is mostly into traditional hunting rifles and SA revolvers. This is not counting the the fact that he has a "gun room" and I can only dream of that sort of thing at this point in my life.

Edit: Quantify that he is not a Fudd. He knows that throwing one group under the bus is throwing all of us under the bus.

I am not jealous, but I realize that I really am a good 20 years behind him (there is a 20 year difference in actuality) when it comes to owning a decent amount of guns.

I hope I am doing as well 20 years from now.

Behind?

Just curious as to why you feel that you are behind? Are we in competition with one another to see who has the most guns? Buy what you can afford, what you appeals to you. You'll know when you have enough, maybe you'll never have enough guns.

+1 to 22 Mag's posts

I consider myself a gun nut too. But I am also a family nut, a woodworking nut, and a motorcycling nut. There's only so much time & money to go around when lots of things are happening in one's life.

Are we in competition with one another to see who has the most guns?

no but we are in competition with ourselves to see how many guns we can get out paws on:D

it would be hard to ban guns if we already own ALL of them:p

This my first equivalent to a Plus 1 post...

That said....Yeah, what he said.

I do not believe that he who dies with the most toys wins, but I have a wish list that is going on 100 guns and growing that I may or may not own.

Hell, some of them I don't need to own. I just want to shoot them. However, in my neck of the woods, even that possibility is slim due to the fact that most of gunners around here own what I would call a ''generic" array of guns.

Since he is the "boss" then presumably he makes alot more than you do. And the prices of guns are going up faster than wages. And the next admin. and maybe on and on will make it more expensive or harder and there are plenty of reasons that make it hard to "catch up" IMO. You just were born too late. :(

Seems normal to me

I am also in awe of people who have as many guns as I want. Not envious, just reminds me of how many I would like to have. I was picking up my latest acquisition the other day, and I saw the next gun I want hanging on the wall. Does it ever end? We love our guns, and unlike spouses, we can have as many as we want (or can afford to be more realistic). Just sounds like a true gun lover wanting more than he currently has, just like a lot of us. I could probably make a list of 100 or more guns I would like to have, and that would just be handguns. Not trying to change the subject, I bet everyone reading this could come up with 10 wants in less than 5 minutes (unless you are filthy rich, and have em all alrteady). It is just who we are.

I have 'bout a dozen, rather unremarkable firearms. It is sufficient. Not to say there aren't a lot more I'd like to have, but I'm patient and have found that half the fun in any material thing is the wanting/waiting/anticipation part.

....oh...yeah...and Mrs. Grymster thinks I already have more than enough guns. :)

Of coarse he's ahead of you. He's got 20 years on you. And he's your boss... so he makes more money. If you buy a gun every 6 months... in 20 years that gives you 40 guns.

I hope I am doing as well 20 years from now.

I hope that the laws have not changed dramatically 20 years from now (unless they change dramatically for the better, which is unlikely).

If your boss has that nice of a selection, maybe he will let you try a few, and you can avoid making the mistakes so many of us have made--lusting after and finally buying something only to discover you don't really like it all that much, then selling it and taking a loss, only to repeat the process. If it sounds as if I've BTDT, ummm, yeah, I have. It's been a fun journey, though. :)

Good luck.

I usually go the opposite way. Whenever I meet people who have that many guns, they usually seem to view them as more of a chore than a pleasure. Having dozens upon dozens of firearms that never leave the safe (or dedicated room), and not even being proficient with any more than a few.......seems to me like the last thing I'd want. But what do I know.........different strokes for different folks. :)

Though I'll admit that a collection of "traditional hunting rifles and SA revolvers" sounds mighty nice to these ears. :D

it does seem to be an innocent addiction though.... just like waking up and looking in the bedrooms and finding 6 kids sleeping, but only just seem to remember the first ever being born....I think i've completed my collection over 20 yrs ago, but forceably had short memory losses.....frequently :D

Buy lottery tickets. Then if you hit big, you can afford all of them, ammo for them, and a nice place to shoot them all day long, since you won't have to work. Gun room? you could post pictures of your gun mansion with indoor ranges. If you are a normal working stiff, that is about all you can do is dream.

There are a lot of guns I would love to have. Even a few nice ones I passed on because the cost of oddball ammo would kill me. Even with reloading.
But, I understand what you mean. When you have an appreciation for nice things and someone has a bunch of anything you collect, it gets you thinking.

Well it wont be long now and i will be down to my
last handgun, i am slowly selling them of :( so we can make
ends meet, but i will keep one, so if you have more than one
then you have more than me, food on the table is no 1.
