I am addicted to buying guns.

Started the new year with a resolution to buy only one gun a month. That lasted for the first week.....:D

Put it this way....under my original resolution, I'm "current"....through February 2014! Thankfully, the better half has a sense of humor - and like someone else mentioned, she loves shootin' 'em too!

:) You've got it bad. I'm behind schedule, only 2 so far in 2012, but did put another on layaway... so I'm not too far behind

I want to stop buying guns. Really I do, but I just can't seem to keep from it. It just happens.....Oh heck, who am I kidding? I am going to a gun show tomorrow. If not to buy, to at least get some ideas of what to buy next. I give up and I'm just going to go with it.

I had this discussion before and came to the conclusion that the perfect amount of guns will forever be N + 1, where N is your current amount of guns.

I started around October last year and it's been one new weapon every 2 or 3 months. I'm currently looking for a LGS with a layaway plan.

There no group meets that can help or class that break you from it.. You start to think if I work a few more hours a week I can swing that new Sig.. Or why do I need cable that 2 boxes of ammo right there... Then you start to thing your non guns friends are nuts for not jumping on that black Friday buy on strip lowers. And how you see your credit card as more a gateway drug to that new stock 1911 colt from 1980 unfired and you wonder if you cash all your vacation time for it or if you have room on your credit card.. You fall asleep to they idea of being a help in jmb work shop with he was building the 1900 as it became the colt m1911 or working out the bugs of colt 1903 32acp officers.... I need to go bud guns is calling I need that new buckmark I know I have 2 but if I had 3 I could have one to play with as that 2 I have are to nice to shot.. Maybe a new strip lower too just in case.....

We've all been there--lately I have been 'bitten' by a mouse-gun bug of which I am having trouble reeling in if you will (at least they're cheap). I love shooting these things believe it or not and, more importantly, I use them as a BUG. Not too bad so far as I only have two Beretta 21A's in .25acp&.22lr as well as a PT-25 (currently have a winning bid in on a PT-22).

-Cheers

You might be right that it is an addiction. However unlike the alcoholic at the end of the day you have all those beautiful pieces to look at rather than just a bunch of empty bottles. Also tell the wife that with the declining dollar value and the rising cost of guns that you are really just securing your future.

You Can Always Sell...

your guns for in some cases (like my Saiga-12, for example) for more than you paid. At worst you get a large percentage of what you paid. So while this addiction can indeed be a problem, it's a lot better than some others that come to mind like over-eating, drinking, drugs etc..

-Cheers

I was addicted for many years and bought a lot of guns during that time. Not a bad addiction when you consider how guns have gone up in value over the years. One day my addiction just went away.

Ya, I`m new to the addiction. In the last 2-months I have bought 3 rifles and 5 hand guns. HELP! Well, the fifth one is my last one for a good while. Wifes orders. :o

I've seen (and experienced) far worse addictions in my life. At least guns hold their value fairly well. Even my wife sees them as an investment.

It could be much worse.

I am hooked on ammo too heck I have 2000 round plus of 380acp on hand just for range duty.. Sad part is due to the shortage that started again "2012 race" when I go to the range I well again be bugged by people looking for 380 ammo. Asking if I can spare a few boxes...

Sounds to me like you made the mistake of telling people about your hoard. Silly to do things like that.

I have a lot of ammo around the house, but I don't tell people outside a few family members

Yaa I learn really quick when I had the range owner calling my cell "he got my number off my membership I signed for shooting at the range" asking if he can buy 200 round for his wife new pistol... Never again ! ! ! ! !

Dang in so glad I'm not the only one! I'm at 9 this past year and don't see it stopping! They all get shot regularly! Oh and another will be here this week! :)

380acp

On the surface, 2K of any ammo sounds like a good bit (for a novice it could very well be). However, say you shoot about 150-200 rounds per monthly visit to the range (that's what I average and, of course, more if I am firing .22lr). In doing so, you're out of ammo in about 12 months. IMO it's all about perspective relatively speaking. To me and you our 2k of ammo isn't much but to the non-shooter or even basic HD individual, it's hoarding:confused:. I've had this conversation with non-gun people and they think we're all a bunch of 'doomdayers' if we have more than a cylinder/magazine worth of ammo.
