I am about to throw my new DSA FAL in the lake

Asthethics I suppose,

Not really interested in the stainless variants they offer and when I was ordering and asking questions about their rifles, they said that they had a SA-58 Medium Contour in stock.
Hate to say it, but I had the money I did a little research and it looked like DSA was the FN manufacturer for me. Still pleased with the purchase. About the only disadvantage to having the "Medium Contour" is the fact that I think the foregrips prevent placing a bipod on the rifle. I also wanted the "heft" the carbines simply didn't offer. Again simply me.
But than again the only time I ever used a bipod was with a M-60 or a SAW.
Sometimes you see something and you know you just have to have it.
I'd been saving for a while and although it is a $1500.00 rifle I think the money was well-spent.

My rifle took about 400 rounds to stop acting squirley. It wasn't until after 1,000 rounds that it became 100% reliable.

I've never heard anything about firing a new FAL with the gas port fully closed to break it in. That would put unnecessary wear on the rifle.
