I ALMOST blew it up!

That's why my range recommends to shooters that they uncase and shoot only one gun at a time. Reduce the chance of mixup. Of course, I only own two calibers myself, and .22 and 9mm are hard to get confused.

I have done the 16/12 mistake. Was shooting sporting clays and unloading between stations. Popped one out, missed it and it fell on the ground. Guy in front of me had the same brand shells in 16 ga and was older so decided to just leave a live ejected shell at each station instead of bending over to pick it up. Can't fault him though, I should have checked.

Had i been the guy cutting the grass and set it off with the lawnmower blade it would have been a different story.

No I never have done the wrong ammo thing for the past 40+ years, although I saw my dad shooting some 270 win. from his 280 rem. once  ROTF LOL

Yeah the wife and I specifically keep our ammo separate and organized in completely different spots when we shoot. It took me going out of my way and walking all the way over to her ammo cache to grab 9mm ammo for my .357. Like I said some days you just aren't all there!
