HYPOTHETICALLY: No CCW, Would U Carry?

I can understand why some of you guys want CCW. What we need to be aware of though is the things that NRA and many gun owners pushed for might come back and bite us. BITE us HARD! I'm talking about "instant checks". I'm talking about those CCW permission slips that we have to get after seeing the teacher for an evaluation at the range. People I run into seem to -BEAM- with pride when they show me that they are one of the VIPs that got a permission slip from someone supposedly knowing better than them, before they are granted the states "priveledge" of protecting their wife/kids from BGs. Those things are nothing better than serial numbers on Fd controled dealers lists and gun/owner registration. In pittsburgh, the NRA fought and won a case where the gvt funded a university to search files and circle every residence in the county who was known to own a firearm of any kind. THEN, the same Association turns around and accepts the fate of an instant registration- (read background check) because AT LEAST THERE'S NO WAITING PERIOD. WE CAN LIVE WITH THAT! Maybe some do, but NOT me. The registration of owner and gun is far more severe than any wait, but of course we can pat them on the back for slowing down the violation of liberty.

Again, I understand and am not slamming anyone for getting a permission slip from our superiors. I do think that most of us gun owners in the USA need to reevaluate the basis for what they like to call a "Right" to Keep and Bear Arms. It seems like some would be more comfortable and honest saying the "Priveledge" KBA.
-Rant turned OFF.

I got permission from my masters to defend my life, which is their property, if the need arises. My masters are benevolent masters. They are probably alot nicer masters than most.

No offense, but it seems to me that people who talk about CCW being terrible usually don't live in places where there is absolutely NO carry allowed, no CCW's or otherwise. Shall-issue CCW may be a technical violation of an inherent right but it's a big step up from what I have now and I would gladly take it if it were offered.
In fact, I was willing to trade real, live, "shall-issue" CCW in Illinois for the governor's pet project of making it a felony to carry a gun illegally. I didn't like it, but as it is it's only a misdemeanor but there's no way to carry legally.

The argument of CCW=Registration is bogus.

Defacto registration is here and has been since 1968. If you buy a weapon through an FFL you are listed. When the state decides to totally trash the 2nd they will know where to visit.

My gripe is Not with anyone in this thread. I have no arguement here. I was simply expressing the fact that:

1) CCW, as is the 100ft. school law, as is Project Exile, as is....etc., ad nauseum, is an OUTRAGE. If anyone has one, gets one, or doesn't isn't any of my business.....Nor should weapons ownership and concealed carry be the gvts business. Unfortuneately, they have trained us Americans very well. Incrementally, gun owners in general have accepted what has been passed yesteryear and tends to view "small" losses as victories. When I talk to friends or family that get a CC permission slip, there seems to be an attitude that accepts the favor with great pride and gratitude. Could this be because the RIGHT to self preservation is rather viewed as a FAVOR granted by representatives to subordinates.

I have no problem with being subordinate to a supereor, particularly when that Supereor is the One Who created liberty and the right to self defense. Many have forgotten this and replaced THE Supereor One with those who are merely representatives here on earth.

2) Its been so long since 1968, and many losses up to then, that we've come to accept more and more paper trails as victories for RKBA. Heck, maybe the NRA shouldn't have fought to win the gvt sponsered "study" at Pittsburgh, PA when they had every residence in the co. that contained known firearms circled on a map. I'm grateful that the NRA fought and won that battle. Lets do the same with background checks, registration of guns and owners through FFL holders and CCWs too. I agree that they have access available through the lists that they have already through FFL holders, Jeff. I just think that gunowners have been rediculous to accept immediate registration in addition through what I've already stated. BTW, the possible repeal of the Nazi Act of 1968 that we accepted into our society has long ago been given up on. We are already one step away from civilian disarmament and the trend has not been stoped by CCW, nor will liberal representatives ever change their minds because the crime rate is going down. For some good info on the subject, check out jpfo.org/GCA_68.htm . Should you or anyone else get a CCW? I'll leave that answer up to each individual. I can see the point that since we are already listed for confiscation and possibly eventual extermination, maybe we should go ahead and get a permission slip. It is an outrage however, and should never have gotten this far.
