Hunting with a crew cab pickup

78.7 inches for the bed on the extended cab and 69.3 for the quadcab. That is a 9.4 inch difference. I have an extended cab right now with the 78.7 inch bed no problem putting deer and gear in there. My buddy has a Dodge Dakota quadcab with a cap on it. We have put 3 deer in the back of his truck with no problem.

I prefer queen size, myself

Art, you must be referring to a GM truck then.

Your really missing the added feature of the 'heated tailgate' on the Ford pickup. When it breaks down in the winter, your hands won't get cold pushing it.:D.

My wife has a cell phone video of someone with a newer model Malibu with a Jackass riding in the backseat head out the drivers side a la Fido and swishing tail in the breeze on the passenger side. She called me when she realized what it was and asked me if she should call the cops and I said hell no you need to use your phone to get on AFV.

We got three decent sized Mule Deer inside the back end of a 1993 S-10 GMC Jimmy one year, so I don't know why you'd have any problem using a short-bed pickup. All three of our deer were pretty big, and there were three adults in the vehicle too. My Dad Driving, a friend of ours in the passenger seat and me in the back seat. The deer fit just fine!!

You might have problems with a really big Bull Elk or Moose but I can't imagine any deer that wouldn't fit in any crew cab truck in existence. Deer just aren't that big. I would worry about a big Moose fitting in a Crew Cab with a smaller bed but I really think you will be fine for deer and an average sized Elk.
