hunting cartridges up to 1.8"?

Again, where are you reading 1.5 OAL? Please provide a link. The proposal I see is 1.8" max case length.

edit:
which down that mean an inch and a half or 1 and 8 tenths on an inch?
The second one.

No, each of them is less than 1.8" case length.
I must be going blind then, because I could swear that says "2.203" on the bottom there.

Same thing here from a different source:

But maybe I'm wrong.

Indiana is probably the main reason for the resurgence in popularity of the
.357Maximum. Slightly under the 1.6" maximum, using a 180gr bullet is great on anything 200yds or less as a general rule. Couple of companies sell ammo, basically a handload proposition. Only guns I'm aware of are rechambered
.357Mags in the contender, Ruger #1, and the Handi-Rifle. Goatwhiskers

Edit: I may be mistaken, but in Indiana I think the law says a straight-walled case less than 1.6". Creates a whole new ball game. Goat

Same here in illinois... No rifles allowed at all. For deer, Revolvers only, and only cases that are straight and no longer then 1.8". But, i can use my AR 15 with 30 round mag or a 50 bmg to hunt coyote all year round.... makes a ton of sense to me... lawmakes... Sometimes i just dont get why were still payin em..

Same here in OH. 50bmg perfectly legal for groundhogs and coydogs, but deer has to be a revolver of 38 caliber or larger with at least a 6 inch barrel. But a 357mag lever gun is illegal.

How in the good Lords name does that make ANY sense?

I see a short renecked .30-30 loaded with 9mm's might fit. I could see Puma 92's in that, pistol legal.

Point being, more case length is a win, they made a move to "liberalize" the law.:D

Here's your plan: .50-70 Gov't. Makes the cut on case length, 450-515gr bullet, shoot clear through a buffalo with ease, should be just dandy for any Indiana whitetail and won't ruin a lot of meat doing it.
