Hunt Of A Lifetime

Most of us probably spend some time dreaming of going on an hunting adventure. Africa, Alaska, or even South America is an experience of a lifetime. One major drawback for many of us is financial.

So lets say you just won a contest. The prize is that you can go on any hunt, anywhere in the world. All expenses will be covered. Travel, lodging, licenses, guide fees, the whole thing will not cost you one red cent.

Where would you go? What would you want to hunt?

Africa

I'd go after more of the herd animals like Kudu, Eland and such. I've no desire to hunt the large cats, the myopic Rhino, Elephants and certainly have no desire to test the humor of the Gods when taking a Cape Buffalo.

Can I hunt known criminals like drug peddlers? Half-joking, I assure you.

I'd like to second the Alaskan bear hunt idea but add some other Alaskan animals and make a good two or three week's hunting and fishing out of it. Travel between different terrain by float plane, different lodges and camp sites. I guess I've been playing Cabela's Alaskan Adventure PC game too often.

Alaska....in a heartbeat.

Heck, I probably wouldn't even take any game, I just want the experience of being there. Photos and memories is all I need at this stage in my life.

And i get bringing several fishing rods too, right? :D

I think a barren ground caribou hunt in the Yukon Territory would have to be it. I know caribou are not terrifically difficult to hunt, but just to be on the tundra one on one against them would be the ultimate experience for me.

If not that, Africa for plains game. No Big 5 or dangerous game, just antelope, eland, oryx, wildebeest, etc.

The one I am saving for now - pack in wilderness archery elk, when the bulls are lighting it up.

Maybe not the most exotic, or most dangerous, or expensive - but the one hunt I dream of.

Maybe after that gets crossed off, I will get more creative.

Probably British Columbia to hunt brown bear, black bear, moose, and caribou - all with my Liberty compound bow.

Close second would be Africa (not sure which country) for Cape Buff, Lion, Elephant, and plains game. NOT with a bow though - I want the adrenaline rush that comes from the DG, but I'm not stupid!

I like the red stag new zealand hunt idea as well, although I really would enjoy a buff hunt in namibia, or maybe urdu and lion. Argentine dove hunt would be exciting also.

Boar in the black forest

On horseback, with a boarspear? That'd be exciting.

+1, 4 sure!

Dangit you guys - you made me remember - yes, musk ox in Canada, too, as taylor said! And put New Zealand ahead of Africa in #2 spot behind BC, Canada - beautiful and a wealth of game down there, from red stag to mountain goat to younameit. To me, hunting is more about beauty/pristine wilderness/aesthetics than it is the game, and Canada and New Zealand have Africa beat in that department (though Africa is beautiful as well).

Alaska...For Fishing and a Carribou/Bear hunt. Then Dall Ram..and while I'm at it, Might as well whack a few Sika's while I'm there on Kodiak. Eat some crab, and more crab...

For me it would be hunting Marco Polo sheep and Dagestan Tur in Tajikistan or Kyrgyzstan. The terrain is just as challenging as the animals.
