#HS2000 vs. Glock - Is the HS2000 a cheap knock off?

I have an hs but I don't own a glock. I can tell you I'm at about 1200 rounds right now without a bobble. It is very accurate with the factory sights. I was kinda leary buying a plastic gun. I handled glocks and rugers and neither felt right. But I must say ergonomiclly the hs fits my hand real nice. The trigger is better on the hs than the two glocks that I have fired. The finish is more durable on the glock than the hs. Right now hs is going through growing pains. The importers are waiting for guns and parts to come in. The supply didn't keep up with the demand. It seems that glock is really established and really takes care of their customers, hs is trying too. All and all I really like my hs and I would recommend it.

hs2000

Have to agree with Railroader. Had mine about 3 months or so. I have put several hundred rounds through it with only one FTE and that was with Winchester bulk ammo from Wal-Mart. Put 250 rounds of Wolf Brand Russian (very cheap) ammo through it last week without a hitch. It seems to be as accurate as my Glock 22 or better. Actually I find myself taking this gun to the range more often than anything else. Seems to fit my hand really comfortably.
For the price I am really pleased with it.

Don't get me wrong. Glock is still the king of the hill and probably the best thing around but it is much more expensive. HS is a pretty nice alternative if money is any consideration.

The HS, IMO, is a fine pistol. I own one and it has performed as well as any Glock I have owned. No, it doesn't have the track record of Glock but, give it time. Right now, they are under priced. Get one before the price goes up..... I'm still loyal to the 1911, however.

I'd say that the S&W Sigma is more of a cheap knockoff (if cheap knockoff is used as a generally derogatory term), especially in the sense that Sigmas just are not that good of a gun, especially when you consider the price.

The HS2000, on the other hand, appears to be a very servicable pistol. The few that I've shot have been accurate and pleasant, and the owners report that they are very reliable.

The HS2000 isn't a knock-off, it is an eclectic design drawing from Glock, SIG Sauer and Colt designs. I was going to get one this weekend, but the one that was in stock was snapped up yesterday, or so I was informed today. They have a good track record so far.

Well, you pay what you get for, and you get what you pay for. Like any other low cost, and usually low quality handgun, it may actually shoot up to 2-3 thousand rounds before it breaks something. Then try to get parts. What holster and mag pouch have you for your HS?

Oooh, now you gone and done it!!!

Last time somebody started an "is the HS2000 worth a CR%P!" thread, there were stitches involved!

9x45, do you have evidence or proof that the hs2000 is junk? I have read a lot of praise for this gun.

Has anyone shot one side by side with a glock for a good comparison?

9x45, I also have a cz75b which I paid $340 out the door. Would you also consider that a low cost low quality handgun. If you have had some negative first hand experience with hs pistols could you please relate them to us here on the forum. I was just was relating my personal experiences, and they have been positive. Hopefully it won't break two or three thousand rounds down the road, but I got to say I enjoy shooting it every bit as much as my cz or my kimber classic. (end of rant) Mark

Everything I've heard about the HS2000 has been very positive. I think the only negative I've read is that the trigger-reset is a little longer than with the Glock.

I've handled one myself (but not shot), and it feels like a quality product. It feels better in my hand than a Glock. I'm thinking of getting one myself to take advantage of its very low introductory price.

I also have a GEN 1 HS2000,great pistol so far,i`ve put over 800 rds through it so far without any problems, including 400 rds of winchester white box crap,it ate up everything so far, easy to shoot, fast followup shots, very accurate,hi-caps cost about 30 bucks(beretta 92 hi-caps)i only paid $299.00 for mine, but the down side is the factory is having some growing pains with the world wide demand for this pistol, but it`s a great pistol for the money.

A knock-off is an ersatz copy. Examples are $20 Rolex watches and imitation Coach purses. The HS 2000 is not a Glock knock-off. The HS is a quality item with a number of features not found on a Glock.

I have one and recommend it highly.

"Well, you pay what you get for, and you get what you pay for. Like any other low cost, and usually low quality handgun,..."

I agree. Generally, that is true. However, IMO, there are exceptions to that rule and I think the HS is one of them as is the CZ. If interior/exterior finish isn't an issue, I'd include the CZ clones.

First off, the HS2000 isn't a "knock-off" of anything. Secondly, the low price is more a function of marketing than anything else, to get lots of guns out into the marketplace and lots of name exposure. They've fired tens of thousands of rounds without mishap in torture tests, (at least according to their local LE distributor here in Knoxville) and folks would be accepting these things without hesitation if they had a $450-$550 price tag on them. Anyone remember a certain upstart company from Austria that flooded the US market with cheap $299 handguns that were derided as junk by folks like 9x45? "A gun that cheap must be junk, it'll never last; and if it breaks, who's ever heard of Glock before? How're you gonna get parts? Whereinnahelliz Smyrna?"

Some people just can't understand that you sometimes get more than you pay for if shop smart. I have no taste for elitists...I will mention no names and leave it at that.

I have over 6K through my Gen 1 HS2K. I had 2 FTF the first time I took the weapon out that were my fault(trying to run the trigger like a single action LOL). Since it has functioned 100% and most of the fodder I fed it was Wolf. There is a catch though. It seems that IM Metals, the pistols manufacturor, is in some trouble. Seems they may have been doing some smuggling somewhere so we may not see any more of these pistols. Attempts to get answers from Intrac and IM have not been helpful. I really hope this is a hoax as I would love to see other products come out. Check out HS2000talk.com for more details.

9x19, I don't use Glocks because of 'praise' I use them because they run. I have over 70,000 rounds between my 2 G21's; the fewest I have thru is a G23 with only about 6,000. Like I said, anyone run an HS2000 over 3,000 rounds?
Another thing, if these guns are that good, why isn't Law Enforcement jumping all over them? And why aren't they being used in competitions like IDPA/IPSC/Steel Challenge?

Jesus Christmas, 9x45, the HS 2000 has been in the country for what, less than 2 years now?

You'll recall that acceptance of the Glock also wasn't miraculous, instaneous, and complete.

It was several years after its introduction into the United States that Glock got its first major police contract, and it was distinctivly slow in catching on in the civilian market for a number of reasons, including the fact that no one knew whether the gun was up to par or not.

That's pretty common with just about EVERY new design.

Just as with the Glock when it first hit these shores, holsters are hard to find for the HS, making it harder to use in IDPA. I don't know what the situation is with after-market magazines, but I suspect that none of the companies have really ramped up to provide those yet, either.

IPSC and other competitive use will likely come, just as it did with Glock. Police use? Maybe. Depends on the marketing and manufacturing capabilities of the company that makes the HS. Not everyone has the manufacturing base (as Glock did) to fill large contracts in short periods of time.

I remember the first IDPA shoot I was at where I saw a Glock.

The man shooting it was heavily derided by his fellow competitors (in a fun kind of way), for shooting a plastic gun.

It's easy to now sit in judgement of a new design, smug in your knowledge that yes, it's a good design, and forget just how long it took the Glock to be accepted fully in this country.

It wasn't, as some like to remember, as if it were the second coming of Christ.
