How will you spend the evening of Nov. 7?

Tomorrow is also the wife's birthday, so dinner, a movie and watching election coverage. Absentee ballot already sent in.

Mike

Have dinner (my wife is a marvelous cook) and see what's on the cable channels. If nothing turns up, go to the video libarry and pick something. Catch the updates on the vote after the movie's over, go to bed and dream of having responsible candidates who are not the pawns of special interests.

Cook a good dinner, (I'm figuring mussels with black bean sauce.) and spend the evening snuggling with the wife in front of the fireplace. I'll probably turn on the tv just before going to bed, to find out who won.

Sic semper tyrannis!

Cleaning guns and watching the state by state coverage comes to mind.

And ditto Denis if Gore wins I'm going to invest in a lot of ammo & reloading supplies!

... But as for me, give me liberty or give me death!

I will be working the evening of the 7th. On the 8th I hope to be celebrating the 2nd Amendment at D&R's Sporting Goods in Nanticoke.

It will simply be too good of a day not to buy a guy.

Tom

Attending a meeting at my range (look for me there MP Freeman :) ) then hopefully going home to find out all this worrying over the last several months was all for not.

Driving an hour to vote. Can't vote here in Nashville yet (moved recently), and my attempts to get a mail/fax ballot failed. "It's in the mail" they said. Uh huh, yeah.

But it will be worth it. I want to see Gore get stomped on by 3 million+ gun owners.

Trip to the range after work, to work off stress of the day. Renting a movie sounds good. I think I'll be to wound up to watch the vote come in. Maybe I'll rent "Red Dawn" just to remind myself that we can overcome... ;)

Will probably only watch the O'Reilly Factor if it is on.

Throw a steak on the grill, crack open a beer or three, and watch the election returns roll in. Hopefully celebrate a republican victory later. If not, well, I have no plans on leaving. Switzerland? Beautiful country, but the place to make our stand is here. This is our country, and I for one am not going to let that bunch of uncle-f***ers take it away from me.

I plan on going to the range early Tuesday evening.

Will spend the evening with ATF (Alcohol, TV, and Firearms), having some adult beverages in front of the TV while cleaning guns.

If, worst case, Bore, I mean Gore, wins, I figure I've got a couple years before he makes any big changes in federal gun control. I don't think gun control is high on Gore's priority list; he has been trying to spin a gun control position that doesn't offend anyone. I get the feeling that he just goes whichever way the wind blows on this issue for now. I'm sure he will sign stricter gun control if it gets the support and passes Congress. The Brady Bill expires in 2004. I don't see Gore or the feds doing anything on gun control until they start working on a replacement or extension of Brady in 2003. Until then, any stricter gun control will be at the state level, with tacit approval from BATF and the feds. I'm sure the various Peoples Republics will start work on further restrictions when their new legislatures meet in 2001.

Longer term, I think Gore is sneaky and dangerous on this issue. His debate statements indicate that he would go along with eventual elimination of civilian ownership of handguns. I wouldn't be surprised if the Tipper is the one yapping in his ear about gun control. I don't think he could accomplish this, even in 8 years (shudder), but I thing he could make some serious movements down that road. I think this will happen in the socialist states of CA, MA, MD, etc. before the feds go at it. First to go will be semi-auto handguns, followed by semi-auto long guns. "Sportsmen" will be limited to bolt action rifles, pump shotguns, and revolvers if the anti's get their way. It can happen here. But it will take a long time. And it will start in California.

Bad Medicine, et al..

There has a been a large body of folks across the nation who have been fasting and praying for the last 21 days for the outcome of the election. Do not fear..

Chris..

My state rep here in MA is pro-gun. This is the third election that I have helped out on her campaign. I'll probably stop by her election night party. And I will also be doing some praying...

M1911

First, family evening. Probably a review of the Electoral College and how our democracy works. Then, a party at some friends' house. Lots of prayers. Hopefully, we'll celebrate together. Republican President, Republican House, Republican Senate, could happen!

Cleaning my guns and repeatedly telling myself that for the time being free citizens hold a monopoly on force.

"Government is not reason; it is not eloquence; it is force! Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master."
-George Washington.

For those who would question prayer as a legitimate use of time on election night, Paul writes to Timothy:

"First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority, in order that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth."

So, not only is it a good thing, but almost an imperative for those of us who claim Christianity.

I will be watching TV, checking up over here and at Drudge for the real news, and maybe pick up a bottle of sparkling cider to celebrate with the wife. If we know early on that Bush has Florida and Penn, it's a done deal.

Hopefully I will be enjoying one of my favorite cigars as I listen to the radio's description of Bush's landslide victory. If not, I'll be drinking a few more rum and cokes than usual.

I'll probably be at the gun shop, snagging those who haven't voted, until about 7:15. Then it'll be home to pop a beer and watch the results. If Bush wins, I'll head back to the shop on Wednesday to order a brand new gun. If Gore wins, I'll be scouring the gun shows for used ones in private sales.
