How To Stop California Confiscation

I was at the range yesterday. The owner informed me that due to some last minute changes, AR weapons will not be allowed to register and will be, as of January 1st, illegal. I then spoke with an officer in the process of training local LEO at the same range. I asked him if "assault weapon" registration had any purpose. His reponse, "confiscation". He told me that once the system is up and running, it will be very easy to check any given "assault weapon" for registration and receive immediate confirmation, but that the whole thing was political. So, if you don't register, you had better keep said weapon out of sight. He understood, as do I, that AR weapons will be able to register.

I am going to register my rifles. I didn't purchase them to bury them under the house and I don't think it wise to not register and present them in public. So, confiscation is the next step and one that folks like me will need to ponder.

I think that there are sufficient numbers of TFL folks that a gun storage and safeguard system can be put into place prior to confiscation. California guns would go into safes in friendly states for later reunion with their owners. This could be handled legally with $1.00 sale of the rifles and sale in the reverse direction when the time is right.

Any other schemes for being able to use your guns and still keep them out of government hands would be appreciated.

So, Gary, what makes you think that there'll be a later reunion? You planning on moving out of Kali?

------------------
Sic semper tyrannis!

Gary, every Kalif. gun owner must do as he thinks best. That said, the officer who told you that "confiscation" is the next step, was telling you the truth. I know some LEOs in Kalif., and I know that teams are being trained right now, to start ransacking homes of people known to have "evil, dangerous assault weapons" (and just about any other kinds of weapons, eventually).

As you said, you didn't buy your firerms "to bury" them... but did you buy them to turn them over to the communistnazi politicians who now control the state of Kalif.?? Because that is precisely what you will be doing, the instant you register them with the communistnazis.

After living 35 years in Los Angeles, and fighting the communistnazi Constitution haters for almost all that time, I know very well what they intend to do with you gun owning "vermin." Their Great Final Solution is rapidly approaching.

Whatever you do, best of luck. You're gonna need it, no matter which course you choose. J.B.

We will in the near future hear on the news about some guy, a nut case that loves to kill children in playgrounds with his evil assault weapons held up in his compound (Town Home). They will have many official reasons to kill, sorry arrest, damn I mean detain him, one of them to be to protect us. The will have suspicions that he is selling or using drugs. Don't believe a word they say. Beyond that what the hell can you do?

Some of us are checking into how to send fake registration form in.

May as well screw with them and make the database 'iffy'.

Moving is not possible at this time, but is possible in five, or ten years. California has always been willing to allow their citizens to sell guns to out of state folks. Their intent is to get them out of the state. My question assumes that there will be time to move the guns. I think that this is a reasonable assumption. Those of you that respond with the suggestion that gun owners, such as myself, just move, might consider that your suggestions are not helpful. If moving was possible, I would not be posting this topic. The politics in Northern California are beyond repair, but I strongly doubt that as a first step, the California legislature will mandate swat raids on hundreds of thousands of California citizens. In other words, it won't happen until all other, more politically acceptable options are exhausted. How about some helpful comments and suggestions.

For those of you who are not registering, just how are you going to continue to shoot your guns without risking both the loss of the gun and substantial expense and headache in the court system?

BTW: Bush is wasting precious days in California while Gore is in the swing states. It makes me question his judgement.

Move where?

It's coming to a neighborhood near you, namely yours, via Federal legislation.

Just a matter of time.

As far as registering, I can understand why some would. But if you're not willing to stand against it now, when the risks of being caught are minimal, do you really believe you will stand against it when the shooting starts?

Your right the CA. legislature likely wont sacntion the raid of hundreds of thousands right away.
Maybe 5 this week. This criminal who dared traffic illegal firearms had to be dealth with by our bravest and best trained men.
Its terrible that our brave LEO's have to face such 'firepower' but certainly its nice to have them to do it instead of us and eventually cut down on the gun violence.
After enough of this goes around gunowners not willing to fight will be turning their weapon in in droves.
This is yet another reason I really hate city police theyll do any thing in the line of duty and most dont have an inkling what the constitution of the US is.
I really wonder what the percentage of gunowners is in CA. it appears that not even the great majority of those are involved in their state lobbies and fighting communist officials.
But then if the vote scam is real at all and in CA. I guess it really doesnt matter.
So much for the joys of a democracy.
(free republic whats that ?)
I wonder how many predicted that the great majority of the hispanic and mexican population their would be 'expected' to vote
liberal if at all since the liberals pus to make them citizens as soon as possible.

One step at a time folks right over your liberty and life.
Or maybe we should be saying 'but if were not willing to compromise theyll take our guns'
I got that from an NRA table worker signing new members up.

Um yeah if we compromise theyll neeeeever want to take our guns.
I wanted to reply to the guy, 'can I kill you and get it over with to save you the trouble of handing your undeserved guns over later.

Compromise means both sides give....what is the other side giving? - Nothing.

I'm NRA just b/c they are the most feared/demonized, but I like GOA for keeping them more honest. I use GOA rankings.

The problem is easy to see. It is a workable solution to all of these things that is difficult. Remember, the people can, have and will continue to support the erosion of their rights. They receive as payment reassurance that the government will care for them and give them things.

There must be alternatives to killing and being killed. We certainly aren't that limited in our thinking..are we? I'm going to look into getting more politically active rather than wait until it comes down to someone getting hurt. What about you folks. Are you politically active? I don't mean just joining an organization, but rather doing something.

Many police that I have met are gun owners aside from their job. They aren't interested in taking your guns away. After shooting yesterday, I met a federal LEO who was a P7M8 armorer for his department. He took a good bit of time to show me the ins and outs of taking care of my P7. I asked him if he were in favor of citizen concealed carry. He said that he was, as long as the person was trained and he disliked the current restrictions on magazine size..etc. He seemed to believe that citizens should be able to be armed as long as they maintained their skill level. A lot of these guys are good guys, but they are given their orders by the politicians.

From the Neal Knox report:

-------------

A former Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer is helping lead
the charge against Canada's gun registration bill. Bruce Hutton of
Alberta is president of the Law-abiding Unregistered Firearms
Association, which advocates civil disobedience.

But instead of simply refusing to comply with the law and
telling the government to come get his guns, as former Edmondton
Police Commissioner Julian Kinisky has told local newspapers, Hutton
is telling gunowners how to screw up the system.

In a Nova Scotia speech last week Hutton suggested filling out
the registration forms, buying a money order, making copies, and
getting a receipt for a Priority Post, then trashing everything
that's supposed to go to the government.

If and when officials get around to asking why a gun isn't registered,
produce the documents, he says, and accuse the bureaucrats of
losing the application through incompetence.

Considering the already rampant screwups in the far-overbudget
and far-behind registration system that story might fly. Less than half of
Canada's gunowners have thus far entered their guns.

Hutton pointed out that while the overwhelming majority of gun
owners are law-abiding citizens who represent no threat to anyone,
the criminals will pay no attention to the law. "Registration is
not the issue; confiscation is."

While "hot burglaries" -- burglaries and robberies of occupied
homes -- consist of over half the burglaries in Canada and England,
they're rare in the gun-owning U.S., he said.

As if to make his point, one Colorado man shot and killed one
of three home invaders last week while another, who came home and
found a burglary in progress, killed one of his burglars. That
kind of deterrent effect explains why the percentage of "hot
burglaries is several times as high in the "gun-free" U.S.
northeastern states as in gun-owning states in the west.

I imagine we might here of some very sloppy
gun-owning house keepers when it comes time for these gestapo raids in CA.
Imagine what one messy gun-owner can do.
You forgot that board of nails was sitting by the window, several widown and someon idiot nailed them in in a criss cross patter
and put some interesting fluids on the points
(arsenic).
You seem to have forgotten about the string you left tied to that double barreled shotgun when you were cleaning it.
Did those darn rattraps have nails saudered to the metal mouth ouch so sorry.
Did that pan have battery acid in it you just stepped into.
Did that string make those fireworks go off could they ignite the gas you just smelled through your gas mask.
Did you not see the string across that window when you burst in and some moron left it tied to a fuse attached to that pipe bomb next to you.
So nice of comrade Clinton to have paid for so many more bullet proff vests for you and your comrades in masks.
Its a scary thought what could happen to a few just a few such brave and greatly patriotic LEO's just working to 'protect and serve' the community if they ran into a few
lazy gunowners.
And those are the lazy ones.
But hopefully most of the gunowners in CA.
wont be so absent minded that could start scaring the crap out of all the swat guys trying to scare the shxt out of any daring citizens still holding onto their once 'legal' firearms.

MADISON46--NRA feared? Yeah their are people out their who only watch TV for their news and beleive every piece of misinformation they get off of it like that the NRA is fighting.
If you like GOA you should really check out
CCOPS their formed from JPFO except they actually lobby, and though www.keepandbeararms.org is not a lobby their mission statement sounds like GOA. www.ccops.org

I'm sorry that I ever posted this topic. Can't some of you guys resolve things without suggesting violence? Why must you skip to the end game, which should only be considered in most extreme cases. Do you want to go to the wife, or husband of the officer that was poisoned, or shot and explain that it was the only means possible to defend your rights? I understand the purpose of the Second Amendment and I understand what could happen, but can't we discuss this issue without suggesting violence. I hope that your gun is only for use to protect yourself and family as a last resort. Wouldn't you rather be politically active now and not need to kill someone by being careless at home. This is a public board and these extreme positions fuel the opposition and hurt our position. I assume that everyone on this post are good, upstanding citizens and I don't really think that you really mean to suggest that we should be considering doing something that will result in kids without a father, or mother. How about a few solutions this side of the worst case end game. For those who have provided various ideas, such as registration swamping and the like, O.K...not legal, but not lethal. Certainly grounds for consideration, but how about keeping the trigger finger outside of the trigger guard for now??????????????

So?

This just means that they don't have the cajones to stand up for what they really believe in. The "I was just following orders" excuse is a classic example of the lack of backbone.

OH yeah.
This is an obvious case of how everyone in CA. is politically active and 'asking' their reps not to enforce such things theyve seen coming forever.
No our freedom isnt worth shooting someone over just because they want to strip you of it and leave you and your family defenseless
at times in a gang infested area (LA. and I met a man sunday from LA. so IM not just going by rumors he loves it here in TN)
Your right our ancestors were complete wacko's and murdererous sickos' for being so cruel as to shoot at those nice english boys in their redcoats.
David Koresh and his flock should have walked out of that church after they heard gunfire and saw that squad of masked men with submachine guns.
Vicky Weave got exactly what she deserved and so did her child they should have been more politically active and not voted for that (republican) bostard who was in office.
Why dont do I even ever carry a gun that poor man in the ragged clothes probaly only pulled a gun on me because he was hungry.
Those guys driving buy pumping lead out their cute sawed down shot gun were just having fun their werent trying to hurt anybody I should just duck and wait for the police to come and TAKE NOTES FROM everyone.
If your so worried about the DAMN facist police that obey orders like god spoke to them then while your active tell them to stay the hell out of my house because the fourth doesnt have a clasuse that sias
' unless said citizen is suspected of owning an unregistered firearm that has been regulated out of his 'legal' right to own'.
Ill make another post connected to the above I mentioned how happy will this one make you.
Maybe they voted for the wrong town sherriff.

U.S. government pays $380,000 to Weaver associate wounded at Ruby Ridge

WASHINGTON (AP) _ The federal government paid $380,000 Friday to Kevin Harris, who alleged his rights were violated when an FBI sniper wounded him during the 1992 Ruby Ridge siege. The Justice Department announced the settlement of the last remaining civil lawsuit arising from the weeklong standoff at the Idaho compound of white separatist Randy Weaver. The government did not admit any liability as it paid Harris to drop his $10 million civil damage suit. In 1995, the government paid Weaver and his three surviving children $3.1 million in the killing of Weaver"s wife, Vicki, and son, Samuel. Earlier this year, a federal appeals court upheld a lower court ruling that dismissed state criminal charges against the FBI sniper, Lon Horiuchi. The same shot by Horiuchi, a member of the bureau"s hostage rescue team, killed Vicki Weaver and wounded Harris. Assistant Attorney General David Ogden said Friday, "This settlement resolves this long pending case in a way that is fair to the United States and all involved." The Ruby Ridge siege, which lead to new rules governing when FBI agents can fire their guns, had its origins in 1991. That year, Weaver, who had been charged with firearms-related offenses, was indicted for failure to appeal at his trial. In 1992, Weaver"s case was referred to the U.S. Marshals, who sought to persuade him to surrender. Instead of surrendering, Weaver remained on his remote, wooded property along with his wife and children, and their friend, Harris. On Aug. 21, 1992, while U.S. Marshals were watching the Weaver property, an exchange of gunfire broke out and resulted in the deaths of Deputy Marshal William Degan and Weaver"s son, Samuel. Randy Weaver and Harris were later acquitted of federal charges of killing Degan. On the second day of the standoff, the FBI hostage rescue team arrived. Horiuchi fired at Harris, who was armed, as Harris retreated toward the cabin. The bullet passed through the curtained window of the cabin door, killed Vicki Weaver, who was standing behind the door holding an infant, and wounded Harris. The Justice Department investigated a handful of top FBI officials for allegedly covering up their role in the siege and shootings, particularly in drawing up the rules of engagement for the snipers. One former FBI supervisor, E. Michael Kahoe, pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice for destroying an internal FBI post-confrontation critique. Of the handful who were suspended during the probe, only Kahoe was charged with a crime. But Deputy Director Larry Potts was demoted, and he and a top aide of his, Danny Coulson, both left the government before decisions were reached on whether to impose administrative discipline.

Ever notice it's always "white separatist" Randy Weaver? I don't think I've ever seen the name Randy Weaver standing alone in mass media print.

ruger45,

My comment about NRA was because I think the politico's fear them. NRA has some problems compromising too much, but we have to fight with the tools we've got.

GOA is good. I like keepandbeararms.com and you are right,GOA and them are more closely alike.

I don't want a compare-n-contrast right now. Just know I understand the frustration with NRA.

Read Neal Knox's report on what the Canadians are doing regarding registration.
