How to remove nearly indestructible labels from ammo cans

I drove truck's interstate years ago and we kept all sign's on the fuel tanks. If we needed to change sign's it was a breeze. Just paint finish remover on the sign's and let it soak a min then wash it off! Of course these were aluminum un painted tanks.

I like to include the wife, she has lists for almost every product that saves time and effort. The product list include vinegar, WD40 etc.. So if the label bothers me I give her the can with label attached.

There is a down side; I was repairing an Ohaus/RCBS scale when she volunteered to help, seems she thought the beam needed a little cleaning; when she returned with the clean beam all of the markings had disappeared 'and' RCBS would not send me the stickers.

I explained to them what she did, that was a bad move on my part.

Today I tried a blow drier and a heat gun. That heat gun was so hot I could not pull on the decal and blow. It burnt my fingers. It did however, loosen things up quickly. The blow drier worked the best. Great idea and thanks to the guy who suggested it. :)
