How to handle an anti-gun????

Just be yourself....... actions speak louder than words. The antis want to paint us as red eyed foaming at the mouth nutcases. So if someone beleives this and meets a gunowner who is not any of that...you just blew a myth out of the water. Some people once they find that something isnt true may start questioning other things they have been told about gunners.

Good responses guys, lots of good stuff

BTW I know first hand weiner dogs are more dangerous then guns, their feisty little SOB's with really sharp teeth and they sit like 2 inches off the ground, you can barely see em...

Hokiehunter, it sounds to me more like you're just arguing that your second wrong makes a right.

If you think it's wrong that they wish to infringe the 2nd Amendment right (which "shall not be infringed"), you are now hiding behind their wish to infringe upon it as cover for your wish to infringe upon their 1st Amendment right.

You may be correct that they are hypocrites if they want to infringe the 2nd and then complain about you wanting to infringe the 1st, but let's be real:

You both are trying to infringe the rights of others. Only your rationalizations are different.

Take her shoting, Quick Trig!!!

I actually just talked to her a few minutes ago, she broke up with her boyfriend and she wants to go shooting LOL

So take her shooting!! Either she is interested in shooting, or she is interested in shooting and you!!

Sounds like a win/win situation to me!! :D :D

QuickTrig,
ProGunner1957 may be right, but... there's a third possibility.
What if she is interested in "shooting you"? :p

She would not be the first anti-gunner hypocrite to advocate shooting anyone who likes guns. Didn't Spike Lee say that about Charlton Heston, something about shooting him with a "bulldog .44"?

No, man, I'm rootin' for you! I do hope that she's hot for ya, truly!

Just... be circumspect. Watch your 6. :p

Yeah, or her ex boyfriend. On what terms did they part ways?

Seriously, I missed your second post that stated she wants to go shooting and asking what to take to the range. Try to see whether she is now fascinated with touching evil (take black handgun/rifle) or if she has a real curiosity and something more 'wholesome’ like a revolver or .22 rifle with lots of nice looking wood might be better.

Take it slow but give her a sample of the hot stuff when she is confident. Wouldn't want the outing to just confirm her worst fears that guns are too much for the average person to handle or be trusted with.

They parted ways mutually, who knows if theyll even stay apart. Back to the topic.

She seemed very interested in all types of shooting. Im going to take the the P95, the .22 Auto, the .22 NEF revolver, maybe the .410, the SKS, the .20, the .22 mag, and the 03A3 just for fun. I think the would enjoy the M1 Carbine also. Il let her pick out what she wants to shoot.

I wanna show her the different aspects, were going to go over all the safety, handling, etc. Do some dry firing, then Ill set up some targets and load one rnd at a time till she is comfortable. We'll just see how it goes. I think she will have alot of fun. :)

How did she make that 180 though? I've never seen someone go from the disgusted, scared of you type person to one that is all of a sudden says Hey, take me shooting!

Looks like we have gotten control of the gun-antigun reaction using our emergency pheremone generator! Good save!

Just remember there is now a risk of the dreaded X chromosome Y chromosome reaction which may lead to permanant entanglement and drainage of your entire energy bank account. :p

You could always....

laugh like a mad scientist from an old horror pic and say something like
"you are begining to irritate me :o " Seriously though I have had the same
experience on many occasions and usually invite them to come shoot
sometime and you will see I am not a stark raving lunatic just a man
who really gets into his hobby :D

I went into a convenience store not long ago and was carrying open. When I approached the counter, the cashier saw my gun and holster and made the same comment mentioned earlier...."remind me to never piss you off!" To that I simply replied, "oh you can piss me off all you want to, that's no big deal.....just don't endanger my life". I said this in a very casual non-threatening way, and kept a friendly tone of voice and smiled. I did NOT want to go on the defensive and go off on some big speel about gun rights/self defense. He was very receptive to my reply, and just chuckled and said "alright, well that's cool" He smiled and told me to have a good day as I was leaving and I told him the same.....turned out very friendly and positive.

Some people however, are just as far to the left as I am to the right, and with them it's best to just agree to disagree and leave it at that. No need to stir up a heated debate as this usually leads to nothing positive. In those cases, I maintain a positive and friendly demeanor and simply move on.
