How sweaty do your guns get when you carry?

I am pleased with tenifer and pleased with Glocks - but it doesn't hurt to maintain them. I have a friend whose Glock rusted...everything was just fine - except the extractor - which for some reason rusted to the point it stopped functioning.

I normally wipe down my carry guns at the end of the day with a silicon cloth. I also use the Sentry Solutions Tuf-Cloth. After a week or two of use, I will have carried them and shot them in practice enough that I will disassemble them and clean them. No problems as of yet; but this is my first summer with a CHL.

So far the Sentry Solutions product looks like it may be superior but it is really too early to judge.

Are you fellas wearing undershirts? I wear a "wife beater" tank top under my clothes and make sure the gun never comes in direct contact with my skin. I live in TX and the extra garment doesn't make me any hotter. On some days when I am outside for a long time, the sweat will still soak through my undershirt, but it is a lot better than if I had not worn anything underneath. Just a thought.

Sure it will rust. It isn't perfect. The Tennifer finish is a damn site better than stainless steel however. I buy the toughest piece of equipment I can and then baby it like it is the worst piece of equipment made. That way the chances of it malfunctioning or rusting are low. I can't say a properly maintained Glock won't rust or malfunction. I can say that it is much less likely to do so than any other choice out there.

The best way to ruin any equipment is to not maintain it. I use a rag with brake free sprayed on it to wipe down my carry weapons and other in my collection after handling or carrying. . Also I use regularly cleaning and inspection maintenance program to keep it shooting. Equipment not maintained will fail. Not a matter of “if”, but “when”. A proper holster will go a long way in helping in protecting your gun from sweat. Try to find one that keeps as much as the gun as possible from touching your skin or sweaty clothing. As a South Florida native I understand the sweat problem. It is something you just have to deal with. Hmmmm I lived up north for a few years and come to think of it, it got darn hot there too
