How not to carry concealed

First off it was obvious to me, (and I have a CCW) that the person was trying to carry the weapon concealed. Yes we do have open carry in this state and I've never seen a single instance of someone open carrying a firearm anywhere but out in the woods. I asked about the Glock because I though it would generate communication between us

Personally your approach/tactics seem all wrong and dangerous to me. Why in the world would anyone(unarmed)confront anyone with a gun tucked/holstered in their pants while in a facility where carry is not allowed? I would have stayed back with cell phone(911 one button push away)in my hand with my eyes glued to the total stranger with a illegal gun in the PO.

I probably would have done the same thing as the OP...

If the guy wasn't already shooting up the Post Office, he probably wasn't a real threat. By asking him a casual question, you let him know that he was showing his hand. Kind of like telling somebody that their zipper is down, yeah it's a bit akward, but somebody's gotta do it.

The OP's remark about the Glock probably shocked him a bit. I assume he didn't realize he was walking around in a .gov building with his gun hanging out. When he did realize it (after the OP said something) he was likely embarrased and maybe a little pissy.

I think you did fine. I'm not a big advocate of "doing nothing" ... at least you didn't scream "OMG he's gotta gun!!!!" :)

The questions by the OP were the wrong questions. All that does is make the other person with the gun; assuming they are generally a law abiding person; get defensive and want you to mind your own damn business.

Now, if you really "Cared" about this fellow gun owner, and weren't trying to act holier-than-thou; you simply should have said; "In case you didn't know, it's against the law to carry a gun in the post office". And left it at that. Forget about his ability to conceal a gun. That isn't as important as carrying in a post office. If you truly CARED, you would have mentioned that. If you were asking for personal gratification, you'd try to embarrass him. Which is what it sounds like.
