How much?! Price matching across the decades.

I paid $175 for a Remington 700 ADL in 1975. IIRC a BDL at the time was around $225. I know a new CDL is right at $900 and if you can find a BDL around $800. The only current ADL's aren't a good comparison to the ADL of 40 years ago.

A Marlin 336 sold for about $115 during the mid-70's

I paid $200 for a Remington 1100 during 1978 I think.

Not sure what you are using, but I found this a while ago.

Based on my link the 1975 700 BDL should be $995 in todays money
The 336 should be $508
And the 1100 should be $730.

Pretty accurate really.

Let's put it to the test. I want you to tell me about a gun you bought some years ago that has a modern day equivalent.

Taurus Model 66, $189 in 1988. Bud's Gun Shop is now showing the equivalent 66 (blue, 4") at $411.

I've been referring to the exact same link as jmr40 since the outset and your example gives a present day price of $380, so cheaper then.

Marlin 60 was only $99

Making a guess at about '97, the Marlin would cost $146 today.
Any idea what the real present day cost is? (And if I've understood correctly Marlin seems to have suffered after a Remington takeover. Correct?)
