Only one thing to say...

I would like to invoke my right to the Fifth Amendment at this time.

(There are some that would say that it is a crime; meaning the amount of money that I have spent over the years...)

"one of my few fears is that when I die, my wife/kids will sell my guns for what I paid for them"!

Actually, its "one of my few fears is that when I die, my wife will sell my guns for what I TOLD her I paid for them."

...(and some of them can not be replaced, like my grandfather's Flues model Ithaca double, or my fathers match grade Colt Government model?

Certainly, as a Moderator, you know that it's against the rules to speak of such things without posting pictures!

I'm not going to divulge that info to a stranger:cool: What I will state is I do not have enough invested in my collection. Its called a water pocketbook with a Booker's bourbon taste.

5-8k for me, other than a few guns I really didn't start buying guns till this year. Averaged a new gun every 45 days, good year but will definitely cut back next year as it is certainly a lot of money, but it sure is fun!!!

I wasn't going to a give an answer to this thread. But then I walked in the door this evening and realized that I have less tied up in guns and equipment than my wife has tied up in Christmas decorations.

I really don't know how much of either we have. But I KNOW her decorations cost more than my guns.

Since I know that the ATF monitors this and other gun sites, I feel I need to be honest. I don't own a single gun, but have thought about buying one. Probably a single shot 22 cal bolt action rifle.

As far as the 11k plus? I would venture to say that most people who own multiple, say 20 plus guns have close to that. The others? They are just getting started...With todays prices, its not hard to have a grand in a single rifle/scope, or for a pistol or shotgun from a well known company to be close to a grand either. It doesnt take many firearms to hit 11k

I can't really say because I never added it up. Do the three WWII SMLE's that I paid about $60 each for count as just $180? How about the ones I got for free? Does something that cost $900 when I bought it count for more if it's worth more now? I think I've spent more for the ammo I've shot up over the years than the guns it went through....

I have guns that I've never put even a single round through though I'm certain they have been used, and at least one that I bought new that is still unfired. I will probably pass them all on to my kids at some point if they are interested. I've only ever sold one gun that I had, and don't really like even thinking about that one... It did go to a friend who wanted one that mirrored his service side arm. I think he retired as a Major, he moved and we lost touch...

Far less than the wife has invested in shoes. If I had the same amount of shoes that she has it would take me 3 life times to wear them out
